I Humility and Honour

Zenji Nio always presents and promotes himself as humble, humble, humble……

According to an established hip hop artist, Duke Panache (when Zenji Nio was Duke Panache), was not an honourable businessman.

http://blog.freddywill.com/2008/08/03/while-im-still-young–the-talking-drums.aspx

I decided to record a whole new mixtape entitled “P. O. S” (Product of Society) in January of 07 to make up for the ‘Stay True’ mixtape being hampered. It seemed at the time that every rapper was coming out with a mixtape or a song bearing a similar title. I had to drop that idea.

That winter a movie producer by the name of Duke Panache’ emerged and started showing interest in the remaining songs on the ‘Stay True’ mixtape. He put a really good deal on the table which I liked. The plan was simple, we’ll re-record the entire mixtape at our (me and my former label) expense and he (the movie producer) would put them on the soundtrack for his upcoming movie. That plan failed in 2007 because he (the movie producer) fell out with all the producers I worked with and even some artists who were suppose to be on my hooks. I even fell out with my former label over that deal because I wasn’t signed to them and we were having disagreements over percentages of the royalties that were suppose to come from the movie producer. He (the movie producer) brought his own producer to record me and he bought some new beats from one of my other producers who had produced a few songs on the “Stay True” mixtape. When he fell out with that guy I began to question his (the movie producer) judgement. I sensed that he might not have been truthful about the real nature of the deal because things were not going according to plan. I opted out.

Freddy Will is a real person, an established hip-hop artist.

II Remember that name because not many people will – Duke Panache

Back in myspace era, not too long time ago, and quite a long time ago, depends.

Duke Panache back in the Myspace era

I also have the myspace profile captured, i.e. whole Duke Panache myspace profile screen together with this picture in the assigned space. The captured myspace image can be subject to professional scrutiny that the youthful Duke Panache photo was not manually cut-and-paste into a background myspace profile image. I did the capturing in case Duke Panache would delete the profile totally later on.

A picture sprach a thousand words. I shall do something I would call ‘Contextual Alignment‘, using this picture to align with his favourite claims, quotes, activities….etc. Let the data present itself, let the data speak for itself.

This guy wants to bring devotion back to Buddhism.

[link]http://toronto.interculturaldialog.com/exploring-faiths-greater-buddhism-mahayana-with-zenji-acharya/

When he was presenting the speech, he was known as Zenji Acharya. We would deal with the title Acharya.

Quote: “want to bring back devotion to Buddhism”

Nebulia’s comment: Seriously???

This guy wrote a Buddhist Bible. And this guy helped athletes won medals in PanAm Game 2015.

Nebulia’s comments: A Buddhist Bible is up to the person to compile it. There was one noble attempt before him: The Gospel of Buddha. This action itself I am neutral, yet I am afraid the 2 pieces of data don’t align.

About winning medals, I have great admiration for the athletes for their hard work and training. I stand by my theory of Placebo Effect. See the newest previous post, Acharya Zen made claims about fighting cancer too.

Surmised argument-> Nebulia: It was Placebo Effect. Zenji Nio: No, my method really worked. It keeps going.

So Nebulia proposes: why don’t we email this blog with this post and let the Brazilian team and other nations’ teams vote?

Not even a Master’s Degree programme possesses this much Buddhist knowledge level with this guy.

His favourable testimonial: “Not even the Masters Program at Delhi University conveys the level of knowledge that Zenji possesses…” – Ashok Bhatia, son of Vimal Chander who worked with B.R. Ambedkar on the Indian Constitution.

I respect the person Mr. Bhatia. With due respect, it is not that I don’t believe Mr. Bhatia the person; but I don’t believe it.

[Surmised Q&A: but then how did he manage to present audience lectures?

A, with a counter question: how did the legendary American hustler Frank Abagnale teach and lecture Sociology in Brigham Young University? ]

There was Frank Abagnale before him.

[Imagined skeptic critique: Don’t judge a book by its cover, perhaps he’s got serious stuff inside…]

Nebulia: Yeah. He got the opportunities and hardware to prove his stuff, but he passed. He likes to say he lectures along with Harvard professors, but he NEVER wanted to show you his Harvard level lectures in mp3 or pdf. Mr. Abagnale himself became a professional consultant who evaluates frauds. Readers who like a 3rd party opinion may be interested. Let’s invite Mr. Abagnale to the professional setting too, eventfully.

Readers may also contact Mr. Carreyrou, author of Bad Blood.

https://www.wsj.com/news/author/john-carreyrou

This guy was a boy monk underwent serious Buddhist training in the Hamilayas.

Nebulia’s comments: seriously, either he was (Hah?); or he was not (and that’s a lie if he claimed so). Both are problematic.

Updated May/June 2019: the additional trail data presented in the previous post “Cancelled wikipedia entry” is a news piece titled “Buddhist Global Superhero…” tells of an unconventional conversion story of adult layman Zen Duke. i.e. was not a boy monk. Hence, readers can more or less reason how the one-year-later upgraded and embellished version “born of noble Buddhist-Brahmin lineage, junior votary education and training….” came to be.

This guy is a Shrestha Buddhist Brahmin. This guy is (already) the Highest Acharya by the time the picture was taken, with a sexy woman at the background.

Nebulia: Duke Panache in this picture was already the Highest Acharya?

Harmony in Action Conference back in 2012. Nio Acharya was already an Acharya in 2012.

Nio Acharya, who was already an Acharya, looked good. Blazer with a blue-grey shirt.

Nio Acharya looked good too.

Nebulia further comments: well yes, because some years later in 2012 he was already the Highest Acharya Rev. Nio Acharya.

Again, they don’t align at all.

III The most important post of this blog ever, from the compilations

Take from the previous post, Acharya Zen wiki archive. Just the introduction part:

Acharya Zen is one of the only Buddhist Brahmins from the West whose distinguished lineage authored most of the important Buddhist and Hindu scriptures over the centuries. He uniquely combines Eastern spirituality with Western Motivational Speaking and is the creator of the international epic ‘Karma: The New Revolution’. [1] Filmed all over the world, the epic will explore all aspects of Karma and Redemption from the often quoted axiom of “what goes around comes around” to the role of Karma in various newsworthy events like the apology of Tiger Woods and the death of Michael Jackson [2]. It will also feature powerful real-life stories of Westerners using the principles of Karma or Karma Yoga to overcome serious challenges like adult and pediatric cancerheart-attackshealth-care, the credit crunch, and crime [3]. Acharya Zen is also reviving the legacy of the Buddhist Brahmins who were the original leaders of the major Buddhist traditions from Theravada and Mahayana to Vajrayana and Zen. [4]

—————————————————————————

This is the 1.5th Generation “no comma” document sample. When Zenji Nio was Archarya Zen.

Nebulia: notice that the above sample, the sentences were written in long sentences with few or no commas grammatically and conventionally applied. Whereas commas were applied, they were for little things division.

This is the anchor example which anchors the statements I want to make later. Read on.

[Imagined skeptic argument]: well you edited out the commas here in your blog to make the original editor looks good!

[Nebulia]: No, me can’t do this. This info can be compared and examined with wikipedia system archive. Since this info is from wikipedia anyway.

The editor of this wiki post knew Acharya Zen’s details and his project well, down to healing and fighting cancer. Therefore, it suggests that the editor of this cancelled entry wikipost, is the editor of this cancelled entry wikipost.

Now, look at the 1.0 st Generation “no comma” document from Zen Duke – when Zenji Nio was Zen Duke.

It’s a bigger full screen pdf file that readers can take a more detailed look: zen duke robinhoodfilm index no commas

Original document source: Zen Duke.

—————————————————————————

From another wikipedia archive, about wiki entry Karma the New Revolution‘s deletion, and an editor known as Truthbeknown888 voting against the deletion, and his derived anonymous anger left in the vast anonymous web:

https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Karma:_The_New_Revolution

Quote:

“I find your allegations to be laughable and outrageous. Please conduct an investigation as I have no idea who this Buddhak character is. I was only referring to the few additions I made to this comprising some of the entries you are referring to. Also, it is not a feature film and therefore theatric release is of no relevance. Finally since you enjoy rampant speculation, lets ask – who really are you? Are you a sockpuppet for Gene 93k? Why do you have such hostility and personal animosity in your attacks? Could you be someone with a personal axe to grind against someone mentioned in this article? A jilted ex? Or perhaps a a white supremacist who does not like “ethnic communities”? Or could you be a Christian militant who does not like “work of the devil”? Or could you be “wikipolice” yourself with a split personality? If you do not like speculative questions like this then why do you engage in them yourself? I can also open an investigation on you for wiki bullies like you with too much time on their hands are responsible for the “edit wars” that have made wiki the laughing stock of the academic world. Personally it has no impact on me if this article stays or goes. But its interesting how much racism is here on Wiki and that is what I stand against. Where an ethnic publication is considered “off-beat” but Playboy is a genuine source. Who makes this call? And how is it that you cannot even tell the difference between a complimentary article and a press release? Basic class on journalism 101! Also, many contributors only make a few changes to the topics that interest them or their communities thereby bringing a level of expertise and knowledge to the subject. 20 year old trolls working out of their mommy’s basements are unable to do that although they can make many more posts. The number of posts a person makes does not add to or detract from his credibility. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Truth be known 888(talk • contribs) 12:53, 30 March 2012 (UTC)”

Nebulia: the content of the rant more-or-less reveals truthbeknown888’s anonymous dark corner character in this anonymous web. Again notice the sentences were written in long sentences with few or no commas. This is stored in wikipedia system, the point is the authority, integrity and standards.

Also examine this: “Personally it has no impact on me if this article stays or goes.” in the Freudian Jungian perspective.

Truthbeknown888 voices for the small community voice; therefore, it suggests that truthbeknown888 voices for the small community voice.

Refer to this:

https://contemplatingzenacharya.wordpress.com/2017/08/04/additional-archive-to-supplement-lions-roar-link/

I shall quote and paste particular Jonathan Smith’s comments for Mr. Daniel Burke.

Daniel, just thought I’d jump into the debate as I stumbled upon your blog. I have to agree with Lisa on this. Firstly, the trailer starts out with a quote from the Prajna Paramita Sutra—a famous Buddhist sutra and talks about the connection between the martial arts and Buddhism and how the martial arts were founded as Bodhisattva Vajramukti (pardon the spelling but that’s what the voice over says). The film also shows many images of Buddha and the star meditating and talking about “true victory being over the self instead of in conquering others” which is a very Buddhist theme. It ends with a voice over from the Way of the Bodhisattva by Shantideva who is the Dalai Lama’s favorite author and the most important Buddhist scholar of all time. The film based on what I could gather from the website is about how like Siddhartha Robin Hood overcomes a life of sex and violence and becomes a Bodhisattva. The sex and violence obviously make the film marketable but there is a very strong Buddhist influence throughout. Buddhists throughout Asia see a strong connection between the martial arts and Buddhism and many films like The Last Samurai, Fearless, even Crouching Tiger have a lot of martial arts and Buddhism featured hand in hand. The Shaolin Temple is a Buddhist temple. Even my martial arts sensei is a devout Japanese Buddhist who talks about how the martial arts come from Buddhism and yoga and the biggest martial arts stars including Jet Li, Jackie Chan, Steven Seagal etc have all said the martial arts and Buddhism are linked. Its wrong to see everything through the eyes of the stereotypical western Buddhist who just meditates all the time. The trailer also shows Hood helping lost souls and the poor and a child while fighting others just as is mentioned in the sutras. How much more Buddhist can a 2 minute trailer be and yet target a mainstream audience? Have you seen any mainstream Hollywood epic ever that has quoted from Buddhist sutras and from Shantideva? Ever? Can you name one? Or do you see Buddhists as meditating monks? Thats a cliche and the film’s website has a lot of info on Buddhism. And the film does not claim to be the first Buddhist Superhero but the first Global Buddhist Superhero—the word Global is important. Being the first superhero epic to be filmed in 12 countries does make it the first Global Buddhist Superhero. There is also a reference on the website to it being about a Maha (Great) Bodhi (Buddhist) Sattva (heroic one). Also, sex and violence are a part of our culture and Hollywood—get used to it. But instead of glorifying it like in rap videos and Tarantino movies, this film is putting in a spiritual context. The least you could do is see whats right with the picture before you see whats wrong with it. If its a boring documentary .. no one will see it. If its an action packed blockbuster with martial arts and kama sutra/ tantric sex (both were a part of Prince Siddhartha’s life and are seen as spiritual and religious in Hindu and Buddhist traditions) and references Buddhist sutras and quotes from Buddhist scholars in the voice over .. its not Buddhist enough. What about the violence in Passion of the Christ? When you think of Jesus do you see violence or peace? Did Mel Gibson not have the right to use violence in his depiction? Think about it and reconsider your post. That’s the right thing to do and its so sad that religious blogs will not encourage spiritual films but find fault with them needlessly. There is not 1 Hollywood styled action film you can quote—not one that has this much Buddhist content and still is marketable and yet all you can say its not Buddhist enough. Because Japanese, Thai, Chinese, Korean and Indian Buddhists don’t matter. Only blond blue eyed western Buddhists do. But of course. We the glorified White people know more about Asian culture and Shaolin monks and Samurai Buddhist warriors and Bodhi Dharma (seen as the founder of Kung Fu by over a billion Asians) than the Asians … of course. Think about it.

Nebulia: Jonathan Smith wrote in long sentences with few or no commas in the conventional grammars – pause the longer sentence to make it easier to read. The shown commas were applied for separating little things.

Also notice the machine-gun short question style one after the other. And look back above at truthbeknown888’s.

[Skeptic]: Nebulia you edited out the commas to make jonathan Smith look good!

[Nebulia]: Nope, me can’t do that. This is originally from religionnews.com, and can be witnessed by Mr. Daniel Burke and religionnews.com staff in a professional setting. We aim to invite Freddy Will to that professional setting too.

Jonathan Smith knows 3 things or 4 about Buddhism. He was like, “I am white. I know three things or four about Buddhism. What do you know? Daniel Burke you Buddhism-ignorant white racist!”

Conclusion from the compilations, of various anonymous names, of various era

An example found http://zenacharya.blogspot.com/2017/08/zenji-nio-acharya-honored-by-mayors-and.html

Very few posts in this honored-by-mayors blog just to occupy one blog and the blog shall take up a google search bandith space allocation.

And the response was fast! Whew! This contemplating….blog’s last previous entry was August 2017 too. I believe it was a conscious effort, readers are free to decide. Yet I couldn’t help but sigh….receiving awards and honours is a beautiful thing, now they are applied in this way.

Grace Road Church fundamental members received awards from Fiji government

https://www.theguardian.com/world/2018/sep/17/shocking-video-shows-pastor-beating-followers-of-south-korean-cult

https://www.abc.net.au/news/2018-08-03/south-korean-pastor-arrested-allegedly-detaining-followers-fiji/10067964

Awards prove nothing. Apply critical thinking, अप्पो दीपो भव appo Deepo Bhava, be a lamp unto yourself:  https://www.lionsroar.com/be-a-lamp-unto-yourself-january-2014/

He made it to the top with PM Narendra Modi, good for him. And I meant good for this blog too.

I believe in the exponential power: just one person sees my blog contents, and it will spread, like bacterial fission.

To reiterate: Jonathan Smith knows 3 things or 4 about Buddhism. He was like, “I am white too. And I know three things or four about Buddhism. What do you know?Daniel Burke you Buddhism-ignorant white racist!”

This must be the transcendence of evil beyond evil: that he articulates, manipulates the sacredness of Buddhism to commit evil and sacrilege, and he does it so naturally and comfortably. So complicated the personality, so sophisticated the mindset….

Quote again from above:“…I stumbled upon your blog. I have to agree with Lisa on this…” Stumbled upon? Have to agree with Lisa on this? He was Lisa. (For details see “Something more depraved than evil….” post.) Man, I could almost hear Lisa’s California talk.

Now take a deep breath and read carefully with a level-head.  Overall he wasn’t Lisa either. Lisa, jonathan Smith and Anand Prakesh, were thin air personalities creations. His design was to create the image to deceive and harass Daniel Burke: “Look Daniel Burke, these people from all walks of lives are saying you are wrong! Lisa the Californian girl; jonathan Smith who is a fellow white man, and happened to be a Buddhist, felt compelled to join in to say you are wrong; Anand Prakesh the young man of South Asian descent is saying you are wrong! So you must be wrong!”

Why, jonathan Smith, why? If you knew 3 things or 4 about Buddhism, why did you do this? Such evil…The world should see this, the world needs to see this, the world has to see this.

The cancelled wiki-editor, truthbeknown888, jonathan Smith wrote long sentences with few or no commas. It is established that they is the same person. [~ these are representative examples ~ wiki case: well planned, well timed to create and edit a wiki article; jonathan Smith’s case: somewhat well planned, but as a response to Daniel Burke’s; tbk888’s case: spontaneous, capricious, not planned ~ the grammars played out the same.  It’s down to the person’s core psyche level.]

btw: were they different persons, then they were internet trolls; now that it was established they was one person, whose sole purpose was not to engage in a healthy debate, but to harass. Legally speaking, would that have constituted criminal harassment?

[Surmised Skeptic]: just for the sake of legal argument, if we can’t gravitate totally one side to ZJ, we can’t gravitate totally one side to Mr. Daniel Burke either, right?

Nebulia: good point. Here is another example incurred in Lions Roar, a paper and online Buddhist magazine. Click on Lion’s Roar yellow area if you can see it, or just click Open Link in New Tab.

https://www.lionsroar.com/robert-thurman-goes-hollywood-robin-hood-goes-zen/

From his articulation, we can see Mr. Rod Meade Sperry is a meek and humble man. Scroll down straight to the bottom if readers you don’t have time; if you do, do a scan read from the top of the article and you shall see ineffable evil hidden in the beautiful spiritual Buddhist expressions from the “guests”. My point is that Daniel Burke’s case is not a singular occurrence.

To conclude, this is the proof, that this is the most important post behind this contemplating… blog ever.

IV Deja Vu all over again – deletion of “Zenji Nio” article entry – truthbeknown888 and professor emeritus

https://wikivividly.com/wiki/Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Zenji_Nio

Zenji Nio got deleted again. A count of more than 3 times, incl. this one: Acharya Zen, Karma Revolution, Zenji Nio…

Particularly look at Professor Emeritus:

He registered into wiki to get involved in the Lotus Sutra, but once editor Jonathan Joshua researched and surfaced ‘Zenji Nio’ article to be deleted, Professor E got tense and nervous.

This Professor of East Asian Studies deadly voted to keep Zenji Nio article, why? Because Professor wrote long English sentences with few or no commas!

Wiki editors incl. Michitaro are intelligent to dig out that Zenji Nio was also Zen Acharya, Zenji Acharya and all that. Quote from Professor: “And if someone with over 100 socks vandalizes a page, is the subject of the page to be held responsible?” Turns out that the Professor himself is a socket. Sigh…..

[Professor you exposed yourself! It doesn’t take the wiki AI algorithm to figure that out. You first came to wiki to edit Lotus Sutra introducing yourself as a Professor in East Asian Studies. Why did you get overly emotionally concerned with a supposedly separate person entity, Zenji Nio?

Additionally, quote from you professor: “As per your suggestion, I will try to re-edit it taking out any and all references that may be seen as controversial.” It’s a Freudian slip. What does Zenji Nio have to do with you, that you like to edit him/that it’s like you are authorized to edit and determine, Zenji Nio wikipage’s “all references that may be seen as controversial”?] Once you said that, I would say they immediately had an understanding in their minds. Plus a new understanding of the 100+ sockets throughout the years.

Framed comments: Professor I thought I like help to alleviate the rooted discriminatory thinking. One of your arguments is: “Times of India says Zenji Nio is an eminent thinker…”  Times of India asserts authority and historicity, yes, that I agree. A newspaper reports data. In this setting, Times of India is the supplementary authority reporting on Zenji Nio’s eminent thinking. Zenji Nio’s ‘eminent thinking‘ should be the primary authority. I have always advocated Zenji Nio should have an online academic depository of essays, lectures, publications, philosophical works, for people to assimilate. So, it is not that they dress down the authority of Times of India.

Now, my thoughts:

that this person-related wiki was cancelled by wikipedia 3 times and more, there is something wrong about him;

that he speaks about the rights and plights of the Dalits, drives funds for the South Asian impoverished girls, there are good things about him (good works are good works, applause and keep it going!);

that nobody knows where he comes from and what he did when he was growing up from a boy to a youth to an adult; that he does not have a Spiritual Director above him, hence in theory, he can claim, say and do whatever he wants – there are doubtful things about him.

Okay so let’s look at one simple criteria, one simple observation.

https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Karma:_The_New_Revolution, reread truthbeknown888

https://wikivividly.com/wiki/Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Zenji_Nio, read professor emeritus and compare

He hasn’t changed a bit over the years. Not at all. He hasn’t changed at all during the years. Not a bit. Easily gets agitated and disturbed, and has his inner demon unleashed, one anathemic stigma of it incl. insulting other wiki editors.

[Skeptic: well, how do you link up “p” and “t”?] Ans. How could a person t impersonate another person p in behaviour and reaction, context, grammar and writing style, temperaments, in the reverse historical chronological time marker order?

This demonstrates that he has not lived in peace, he has not been able to live in peace.

http://zenacharya.blogspot.com/2017/08/zenji-nio-acharya-honored-by-mayors-and.html. Awards in the years could not make him happy. Lord Jesus and Lord Buddha taught about this.

Setting aside the dimensions good and evil, love and hatred, light and darkness, ethics and morality…..setting aside all these, the question is,

If he himself has not lived in peace, if he himself has not been able to lived in peace; if he even could not find solace in God, in Buddhism, what really can he offer you in life?

“Not to oppose error is to approve it

and not to defend the truth is to suppress it;

and indeed to neglect to confront evil, when we can do it,

is no less a sin than to encourage them.”

St Felix III (483 – 492 CE)

ZJ responded: “Yes, setting aside good and evil, love and hatred, light and darkness, ethics and morality, I can offer you Sempo Center: https://www.sempocenter.org/founder”.

If you have doubtful feelings towards him, DO NOT envy, feel bitter, let surge rage blind you and shout Hippo and Critical on this; or you become Truthbeknown and the Professor himself. Good works are good works that be applaused. DO NOT just throw out insults and coloured theories.

If this blog helps to push things, why not?

ZN once said this is a silly analysis, let’s try this again:

Refer to previous post “Cancelled wiki entry” bottom update. ZJ was not a boy monk nor coming from a Buddhist-Brahmin aristocratic family. Setting aside the ethics and morality of fabricating your Buddhist qualifications and ancestral heritage, this is not the focus for this analysis. i.e. All the years what he did was not due to family instruction to go evangelize Buddhism as there wasn’t such, therefore what’s left is that they were due to self-drive.

Self-drive: self-drive could mean there was the Buddhist Holy Spirit or Heavenly Fire that ignites him, that drives his relentless missionary zeal, to spread the good news of the Buddha to the continents of the world…..Self-drive, could also mean “self self-drive”….

Again, we cite this – https://www.sempocenter.org/founder

Typical of the styles, dense, tense, intense. He would cite  testimonials such as “as good as HH the Dalai Lama”, “the Martin Luther of Buddhism”; that he lectured here and there…but, he conceals his academic lectures, Buddhist teachings????? Shouldn’t the zeal of evangelism calls for a prolific deposit of teachings, lectures, publications, theological thoughts for spiritual seekers of the world to get inspired from his teachings?

Therefore, we common folk readers, don’t even need a psychologist to tell us what this self self-drive is about.

  • Found a revenge blog  with only one post after Zenji Nio wiki post got cancelled. Very angry and hateful. The thing is, if one writes something, the primary objective is to make the readers believe and agree, but it attains the opposite
  • https://buddhistwikipedia.wordpress.com/2017/06/29/why-zenji-is-a-true-votary-of-the-lotus-sutra/ <<= all this fuzz, the subject concerned just needs to setup his own zenjiniolotussutracommentary.com and writes the commentary and theological reflections online. As in the legacy of Karl Barth on the Epistle to the Romans, if it is good, visitors will come.
  • This author invested so much in this, including his soul and its samsara destiny. “We pray…” means he is not atheist. If he believes it is all worth it, we leave it to him.
  • So far his defense is that this blog is racist, so you readers  should ignore and condemn. Hmm…Remind us of Mr. jonathan Smith…?
  • His other defense and explanation is that he had a partner and ardent supporter right in the beginning, who worked in a bank. These were the works of that partner who seized every opportunity to defend for him….but during Professor Emeritus showing up, allegedly they already had fallen off friendship….not a very articulate defense. In addition, when wiki editorial board was discussing possible cancellations of the wiki topics related to […..], and truthbeknown888, the Professor would just show up to pledge for keeping, like they were standing by. His ex-friend had to work in a bank. I worked too, or I would have joined in the discussion. Considering now and then, who has more freelance time?
  • [Addenum] He responded to this post with more and more websites: “I have lands, titles, temples, awards, recognitions, associations….!” Essentially he is admitting this post’s information is true – I know, this is a puzzling case, because he dazzles you with all kinds of flying colours: co-snap with this minister, co-snap with that religious figure, testimonials, giving talks all over the world [Nebulia: lecture depositories please]…, but stay grounded. Accordingly, this is also an exemplary education model of Buddhism: his websites are about his external associations; this blog is about his internal associations. This is where discernment comes in: do we look at a person’s heart, or do we look at his fancy clothes?
  • …..Ladies and gentlemen: “the Martin Luther of Buddhism, who is as good as HH the Dalai Lama…”

The Buddha weeps.

Cancelled and Archived “Archarya Zen” wiki, a preview of a bigger post

The below wikipedia entry was in fact cancelled. This is posted as a separate post as I am preparing a larger post, hence readers can refer to this piece of info separately in an easier reading flow.

The content is not the main focus of my intended next discussion post; however if you take the time to review them, you may find some eager and controversial claims like ‘treating cancer’. Some links are no longer valid, but that is not important.

In brief, the focus is that the editor of this wikipost knew much details about Archarya Zen and his projects. I shall elaborate and expand my discussion in the next post. Readers could take the time to do a preview of this and assess too.

[edit] Reviving the legacy of Buddhist Brahmins

Acharya Zen is one of the Prime Architects behind the revival of the original Buddhist philosophies of India that have been praised by many Western scholars from Bertrand Russell and H.G. Wells to Arnold Toynbee and Arthur Schopenhauer among others. Bertrand Russell is reported to have said “Of all the great religions of the world, I prefer Buddhism — especially in its earliest forms” and Carl Jung has stated “As a student of comparative religions, I believe that Buddhism is the most perfect one the world has even seen. The philosophy of the theory of evolution and the law of karma were far superior to any other creed”. [5] H. G. Wells is also known to have said that “Buddhism has done more for the advance of true culture and world civilization than any other in the chronicles of mankind. [6] Similarly Arnold Toynbee has stated that “The Coming of Buddhism to the West well may prove to be the most important event of the 20th century” [7] and Max Muller declared “The Buddha’s moral code is the most perfect which the world has ever known”.[8]

In this context, Peter Masefield wrote, “The canonical texts show the early Buddhists seeking their sustenance mostly from Brahmin families, and the dhamma-cakkhu (the insight into the Four Truths) that led to liberation was given almost exclusively to men of Brahmin descent.” Acharya Zen upholds the belief that “The Shrestha Buddhist Brahmins were not so much a part of the “caste system” as we know it but instead comprised the most iconic Buddhist visionaries who authored, preserved and maintained the most significant Buddhist texts over the millennia. In fact the Buddha described the Buddhist Brahmins as the embodiment of spiritual wisdom and dedicated an entire chapter to them called ‘Brahmana-Varga’ in The Dharmapadas. Since then, the Brahmins served as the pillars of the Dharma from Padma Sambhava who brought Vajrayana to Tibet to Bodhi Dharma who founded Zen Buddhism and Kung Fu; from the Buddha’s closest disciple Sariputra to Shantideva — the author of The Way of the Bodhisattva; from Mahayana founders Nagarjuna and Asvaghosa to Theravada‘s top commentator Buddhaghosa; from the legendary gurus Mahakashyapa and Mahakatyayana to Kumarajiva — the most revered ambassador of Buddhism in China and Nagasena of Milindapanha fame; from Shanta Rakshita — the Kashmiri Pandit and abbot of Nalanda University to Manjushri — the spiritual mentor to Buddhism’s greatest patron King Ashoka… the list goes on. History therefore upholds the contribution of Brahmins to Buddhism as truly peerless.” [9]Acharya Zen further clarifies, “Even in the Vedas the title of Shrestha Brahmin was not conferred merely on the basis of one’s birth but more importantly on the basis of one’s conduct and mastery over ‘apara gyan’ or lower knowledge represented by texts and rituals; ‘para gyan’ or higher knowledge based on ‘sarvodaya’ or universal altruism and real-life experience gained through living the Dharma and ‘tatwa gyan’ or inspired knowledge based on ‘bhashyas’ or spiritual commentaries and ‘brahmodyas’ or spiritual debates. Therefore a non-Brahmin could join this elite group of Brahmins if he were to master the demanding Brahmacharya lifestyle”.[10]

[edit] Karma: The New Revolution

Karma: The New Revolution is an international epic by Acharya Zen which details all the main aspects of Karma tailored for a western audience. It also highlights the role Karma has played in current news events from the arrests of O.J. Simpson and Roman Polanski to the travails of young Hollywood celebrities and the perils of self-indulgence in violation of the laws of Karma.[11]. The film will also throw light on the Buddhist approach to Karma and Redemption that were also referred to in the apology of Tiger Woods. Acharya Zen was quoted by various news agencies as stating that “Karma and Redemption go hand in hand and in Verse 173 of The Dhammapadas, the Buddha states that ‘a person who makes amends for his mistakes can light up the world like the moon merging from the clouds’. This suggests that Tiger Woods can redeem himself by following the Buddha‘s last words ‘Appo Deepo Bhava’ or ‘Be a lamp unto yourself'”.[12]. The film will also take a respectful look at the lessons one can learn from the life and death of Michael Jackson.

[edit] Eastern and Western Philosophies

In addition to “an unprecedented plethora of Buddha’s teachings on Karma tailored for a Western audience”, the film will also feature other venerated Eastern philosophies from The Bhagavad-Gita, Upanishads, Mahatma Gandhi, Rabindranath Tagore, Yogananda Paramhamsa and Swami Vivekananda. Furthermore, it will also include the scholarly views of some of the greatest Western philosophers including Benjamin Franklin, Albert Einstein, Carl Jung, Bertrand Russell, Mark Twain, Carl Sagan, Arthur Schopenhauer, Friedrich Nietzsche, Voltaire, Max Muller, Plato, H.G. Wells and such icons to explain the Scientific basis of Karma and the justification of the axiom of “what goes around comes around”. [13]. The film will also explain the role of Karma in Christianity and from a Judeo-Christian perspective due to the strong interest from Christians.[14]

[edit] International Locations

The film Karma: The New Revolution has been filmed in 12 countries around the world including the US, Japan, France, UK, Canada, Switzerland, Hong Kong, and Hungary. [15] The exotic locales range from the Louvre Museum of Paris and the Asakusa Temple of Tokyo to the Sal Forests where the Buddha taught in India and the beaches where Gandhi dreamed of changing the world. A special sequence will also be filmed inside the Notre Dame Cathedral of Paris. [16]

[edit] Karma Marga in the Fight Against Cancer and Heart-Attacks

The film will also feature powerful real-life testimonials of people who have used Karma Marga and Dharmic philosophies to overcome serious adversity from heart-attacks to pediatric cancer. [17]. It will also show how everyday people have used an understanding of the principles of Karma to overcome the challenges of health-care and the recession as well as victims of abusive and unhappy childhoods. [18]. The film will also explain various explanations as to why bad things happen to good people and how one can overcome serious setbacks in one’s life.

[edit] Release Dates

The Release dates for the film and the original soundtrack will be announced soon.[19]

[edit] Noteworthy Quotes

Acharya Zen upholds the belief that “The Shrestha Buddhist Brahmins were not so much a part of the “caste system” as we know it but instead comprised the most iconic Buddhist visionaries who authored, preserved and maintained the most significant Buddhist texts over the millennia. History therefore upholds the contribution of Brahmins to Buddhism as truly peerless.” [20]Acharya Zen further clarifies, “Even in the Vedas the title of Shrestha Brahmin was not conferred merely on the basis of one’s birth but more importantly on the basis of one’s conduct and mastery over ‘apara gyan’ or lower knowledge represented by texts and rituals; ‘para gyan’ or higher knowledge based on ‘sarvodaya’ or universal altruism and real-life experience gained through living the Dharma and ‘tatwa gyan’ or inspired knowledge based on ‘bhashyas’ or spiritual commentaries and ‘brahmodyas’ or spiritual debates. Therefore a non-Brahmin could join this elite group of Brahmins if he were to master the demanding Brahmacharya lifestyle”.[21]

Explaining the Buddhist concept of Karma and Redemption, Acharya Zen elaborates, “One of the most powerful stories of redemption in any religion is the inspirational saga of Angulimala who overcame a life full of depravity to become one of the Buddha’s best-known disciples. In fact his lesson is highlighted in Verse 173 of the Dhammapadas where the Buddha states that ‘a person who makes amends for the wrong he has done can light up the world like the moon merging from the clouds.’ This suggests that Tiger Woods has a real opportunity to become an even bigger inspiration by proving that a true role model is not one who never makes mistakes; but one who always makes amends.”[22]

Addressing the strong interest from the Christian Community, Acharya Zen stated “although the film features an unprecedented plethora of Buddhist philosophies tailored for a Western audience, we received a great deal of interest from Christians eager to know more about Karma from a Christian perspective. I’m not sure as to whether Brit Hume‘s comments triggered this reaction but we will now be including a new sequence filmed inside the Notre Dame Cathedral of Paris to highlight the role of Karma in Christianity and many will be surprised by what we reveal.” [23]

Indo-American statesman Rajan Zed says that “Karma” is becoming highly popular in Hollywood and other entertainment industries. [24]

Below added and updated May/June 2019, as Nebulia digs deeper and earlier:

Buddhist Superhero Epic to Inspire During Recession

by Ashin Mettacara, Newsnow.co.uk, March 5, 2009

London, UK — As the world reels from some of the worst economic conditions

in recent history, people are dealing with serious depression on all fronts.

At a time like this the Buddha’s teachings on persistence, endurance and

compassion are all the more relevant for people of all faiths

who are increasingly seeking comfort through spirituality.

For this reason, Canadian Buddhist Zen Duke has brought together talented artists

from all over the world and all faiths including all Buddhist sects from Nichiren

and Zen to Western and even Chinese. They are now on the verge of completing an

ambitious global epic that will promote inspirational Buddhist teachings and

philosophies to a mainstream English speaking audience like no other film before it.

Engaging the concept of Upaya or “skillful means”, the film merges together

2 all-time classics “Robin Hood” and Shantideva’s “Way Of The Bodhisattva” and uses

such Hollywood elements as rare and trademark martial arts, soulful romance

and razor-sharp wit to promote the Dharma in a cool and sleek way to a global English

speaking audience. Set in present-day America, the epic brings east and west together by

filming in renown locations of the US, Canada, England, France, Japan, Switzerland,

Hungary, Thailand, Singapore and India on an ambitious global scale rarely seen outside

 the Hollywood studio system.

As Zen Duke states “this is quite possibly the first English film that directly promotes so many Buddhist

concepts from Bodhisattvas to Dharmapalas along with powerful teachings of Lord Buddha in a manner

that can inspire and empower all audiences. It is also the first English film to pay homage to

Bodhi Dharma — venerated across Asia as the founder of Zen Buddhism and Kung Fu as well as the first to

use never-before-filmed martial arts to promote Buddhist principles the way the Shaolin monks and

Japanese Samurai use to“.

Zen Duke himself fell in love with the Dharma when he was in India meeting with

Bodhisattva and Nobel Laureate Mother Teresa and serving as a social worker poor

children with disabilities and child victims of HIV, drug abuse and prostitution.

They taught him to always smile through life’s obstacles and often disarm them with a

good sense of humor which explains the witty tone of the film.

Furthermore, while visiting the place where Lord Buddha gained enlightenment

in Bodh Gaya, Zen felt profound emotion and realized he had found his life’s calling and

began to study the Dharma with a passion. During his time in India, he also referenced

other aspects of Indian culture that influenced the sutras from the culture of the

Kshatriya warriors who were the original Buddhist teachers to aspects of the Gita and

Ramayana and other Hindu scriptures that first defined certain terms that subsequently

found their way into Buddhism.

In fact Randy Murton, News Editor of Canada’s biggest media giant

Rogers City TV has referred to Zen Duke as “the next Deepak Chopra — the West’s brand

new ambassador for Indian spirituality”.

Upon returning to the West, Zen used the Buddha’s teachings to overcome unfathomable

adversity in his own personal life and has since become a charismatic Buddhist

motivational speaker who makes the Dharma exciting and applicable to our day to day

lives in a whole new manner that today’s generation can relate to and be inspired by.

However what truly surprised Zen was the realization that many aspects of the Dharma

have been misrepresented in the West and so he is determined to promote the true

Buddha Dharma of the incomparable Shakaymuni and is writing a book to clarify and

correct the clichéd myths that have become associated with certain aspects of Buddhism

especially in America.

The film is completely non-political and is meant for both Buddhist and non-Buddhist

audiences as it uses the popular superhero genre to both entertain and empower all

demographics with an inspirational message during these challenging times.

In fact not only has Zen used these same Buddhist credos to dwarf insurmountable odds

in his own life but he has also used them to help his cast-mates deal with severe

problems in their personal and family lives from battling cancer to recovering from near

blindness.

The theme of the film is synonymous with the famous words of Bodhi Dharma —

represented by Daruma dolls across Japan. His mantra Nana Korobi Yaoki in Japanese

means “If you fall down 7 times, Get up 8”. Indeed a lesson that can inspire and

empower audiences of all faiths during the present recession when Buddha’s teachings

are all the more relevant.

—–

Nebulia’s comments: it tells of a unique conversion story of a layman Zen Duke to Buddhism dharma, inspired by a famous and venerable

Catholic nun. The uniqueness is that Zen Duke fell in love with the Buddhist Dharma influenced by Mother Teresa,

instead of having developed an interest in Catholicism Christianity.

If Ashin Mettacara were a third party, this story could not have been invented by the writer out of thin air, there had to be

the original source person who delivered that news piece, again with unique grammar applications as Nebulia pointed out before.

Regardless, the point is, if someone wishes to counter and refute the above brief dharma biography of Zen Duke,

the person is to refute Ashin Mettacara or the originator source, not this blog.

This blog is to post this piece of data, from which the accord gravitates that “Zenji Nio (Zen Duke) was NOT a boy monk.”

Therefore, Zenji Nio-Zen Duke was not a Buddhist-Brahmin either, as he claimed.

You can convert to become a Buddhist, you can’t convert to be a Brahmin.

Not that I embrace the “caste system” context, but I wish to point out the system should not

be exploited and taken advantage of.

—– The above wiki “Acharya Zen” upgraded and embellished biography version appeared just one year later at 2010, contrasts

this 2009 version very much. “Cancer treatment” was carried over nevertheless, so it wasn’t

co-incidental but conscious.

The “Martin Luther” of Buddhism? Not so fast…

OBSERVATIONS before coming to Buddhism Discussion

2 short observations before His-Buddhism discussion

Observation I. His Own Data, His Own Supplied Data

– before anyone accuses anyone of possible fabrications, this is his own supplied data; and not-supplied data (no mentioning of Robin Hood movie in his websites now). This blog links the data together to illustrate how problematic things are.

1. portrayed age as a junior, teen and becoming academic years

“then went to India where he underwent the most arduous training imaginable to be worthy of his uber lineage – from shaving his head, renouncing everything and meditating in the same caves used by the Buddha”

2. wanted-to-make-it years

.https://rh2008.wordpress.com/ Heavy metal gear, hot steamy sex, SMian themes

Zen Duke tattoo

3. want-to-make-it years

[link]http://toronto.interculturaldialog.com/exploring-faiths-greater-buddhism-mahayana-with-zenji-acharya/

Quote: “want to bring back devotion to Buddhism”

No matter how many celebrities you associate yourself with and use them non-verbally as answers to the proposed questions, this is your data sir, this is your own supplied chronological data sir, with verbatim quote and image archive.

Before you associate with others, all the celebrities and authorities, before asking others to associate with you and throwing out these co-snap images, first associate and harmonize with your own self – challenge yourself to face these chronological data.

Before you threw out compliments and testimonials of “eloquence”, use your eloquence to elucidate your own chronological data.

Observation II. The “Martin Luther” of Buddhism…..not so fast

Not so fast. Before you accept, and publish compliments of “Martin Luther of Buddhism” as the ultimate medal of glory, as your religious “purple heart”, to shine and to convince people of your authority and status, refer to Martin Luther’s another publication “On the Jews and Their Lies”. (I kept an archive/image of your listing the compliment already.)

http://vho.org/aaargh/fran/livres9/Luthereng.pdf <- anti-Semitic Revisionism website uses it

http://www.jewishvirtuallibrary.org/martin-luther-quot-the-jews-and-their-lies-quot <- a shorter summary from a Jewish common website

If you delete this “Martin Luther” compliment, better delete it. Yet I shall have direct proof of before-keep-and-delete-after image, proof that you are aware of my blog.

If you keep it, there are consequentially 2 psychical perceptions:

– now that you know more about the anti-Semitic Martin Luther, if you keep the compliment, keep it, but you are telling the world you are attached to the shiny car wax compliments despite Martin Luther’s other historical controversy and his inner-demon hatred towards the Jews

– that you don’t know, or pretend not to know so you can avoid the situation that I claim I have direct proof that you are aware of this blog, here is what is left for…..the Buddha advises that we were born with hindrance, ignorance…..that you are telling the world you are attached to the “Martin Luther” car wax compliment so much without having researched into the person [same mistake for once calling yourself “Panache” for the feminine lingerie brand], but this attachment drags you back to the birth state.

I don’t fault the complimentor Chaplain Johnson, he meant a good, sincere heart. But for the recipient, even though say, Martin Luther were a no-controversy holy holy man, Zenji could have chosen not to relay it – if Nio had wanted to demonstrate his modesty and humbleness. I already made images and archives about his compliment portrait page.

(Did ZenjiNio mean a good, sincere heart to reconvey the compliments as testimonial?)

btw Did Chaplain know about his previous business ventures?

Keep or delete, your call.

Last but not least, it brings out the point I always maintain. So many testimonials, they arouse people and layman’s interests: “if Zenji is so good, I want to visit him and listen to him talk”, but he NEVER lists to you his future speaking schedules. The testimonials are collected and listed after the events that happened.

PRE-DISCUSSION before Doctrinal Discussion: First Remark regarding “His-Buddhism”

https://www.buddha.expert/meditation

https://www.buddha.expert/kannon

https://www.buddha.expert/amida

https://www.buddha.expert/buddha

In short, his Buddhism is his own brand of Buddhism. I would like to comment on his Buddhism and other perspectives.

I shall cite a simple measurement tool here, based on his own bio about himself. He claimed that he shaved his head, studied in the caves of Himalaya during the earlier years.

Supposed me, a Christian teacher Rev. Karl, claimed that I studied manuscripts in the Sinai Desert monasteries and caves, and in the remote monasteries in the Greek islands and Orthodox Russia. I shall illustrate:

[Authorship of origin: Zenji Nio] Amida also means Eternal Life and thus represents the Light we reportedly see in near-death experiences

[My emulation] Christ is the Way, the Truth, the Life and thus represents the Light we reported see in near death experiences

[Zenji Nio] Buddha was the first to say God is Love and like a Heavenly Father as opposed to a tyrant despot.

[Emulation] Christ says, ‘God is Love”, that God is a Heavenly Father as opposed to the “Old Testament” (Hebrew Bible) tyrant despot.

[Zenji Nio] Kannon is the Highest Divinity that also personifies Hope & the Law of Attraction.

[Emulation] The most Blessed Immaculate Virgin Mary, the Divine Mother, personifies Hope and the Law of Attraction. [then using Zenji Nio’s sentences totally, to make a point] “When we align our own inner power with the Highest Power, we are filled with positive energy that allows our inner potential to flourish and our dreams to come true by attracting the right people and opportunities via the Law of Attraction.”

POINT 1.

If I told you readers, I, Rev. Karl had studied the deep mystic Christian manuscripts in the Sinai Desert, Greek and Russian monasteries, so do what I wrote [the emulations] look like the kind of theological works that I studied, assimilated, and synthesized? (means in terms of context/content and scholarly level)

You, readers, you could be a staunch atheist, friendly agnostic, Bhakti Hindu, Buddhist layman, the conventional Sunday-worship Christian….scholarly or not, there is a simple measurement tool for you.

The simple measurement tool would be, “Do what he talks, writes, look like the Brahminic/Kashmiri/Himalayan ancient legacy of Buddhism that he claimed for himself?

You don’t need to be a scholar nor a Buddhist to tell, the answer is obvious. In cases he edits in/out, adds-subtracts contents in the future, we just apply this tool.

POINT 2.

Zenji may protest, “I am just trying to down-tone so they are more accessible and approachable to the common readers….”

My refutation towards the possible protest:

– first please make yourself more accessible and approachable by listing your future activity schedules

– you present yourself coming from the oldest Indian Buddhist legacy, and that is what people want to see. People want to see and learn about your
“Himalayan cave Buddhism”…

– referring to your “original works”, my emulations simply switch the names of the deities and I repackage and re-present as “Christian” teachings, in one occasion totally using your paragraph, i.e. meaning yours are not original and distinctively Buddhist, not even further talking about reaching the door of ancient Kashmiri-Himalayan Buddhist.

– that I just illustrated an example that I switch the names of the deities and I repackage them from yours and become Christian teachings….or, is it that you switched the names of the deities from Christian theology and repackage them? Yours look and feel so Christian, differentiated only by the names of the deities and your likes about “no blood-sacrifice” required over Christianity.

The 2nd Measurement Tool – from the Lord Buddha himself.

ZenjiNio-Buddhism is a kind of happy Buddhism, that is what makes it dangerous.

His-Buddhism is about making this life Epicurean: happy-happy happiness; and after that, God-Buddha will look after you to Heaven and entertain you in Heaven.

It’s nice, it’s positive, it’s attractive.

The Buddha’s Buddhism: Four Noble Truths

Quote from Lionsroar: this is really good basic introduction

https://www.lionsroar.com/buddhism-by-the-numbers-the-four-noble-truths/

1. Suffering

Life always involves suffering, in obvious and subtle forms. Even when things seem good, we always feel an undercurrent of anxiety and uncertainty inside.

2. The Cause of Suffering

The cause of suffering is craving and fundamental ignorance. We suffer because of our mistaken belief that we are a separate, independent, solid “I.” The painful and futile struggle to maintain this delusion of ego is known as samsara, or cyclic existence.

3. The End of Suffering

The good news is that our obscurations are temporary. They are like passing clouds that obscure the sun of our enlightened nature, which is always present. Therefore, suffering can end because our obscurations can be purified and awakened mind is always available to us.

4. The Path

By living ethically, practicing meditation, and developing wisdom, we can take exactly the same journey to enlightenment and freedom from suffering that the buddhas do. We too can wake up.

The Noble Eight-fold Path, expanded from 4th Noble Truth the Path

1. Right Views – to keep ourselves free from prejudice, superstition and delusion and to see aright the true nature of life.
2. Right Thoughts – to turn away from the evils of this world and to direct our minds towards righteousness.
3. Right Speech – to refrain from pointless and harmful talk to speak kindly and courteously to all.
4. Right Conduct – to see that our deeds are peaceful, benevolent, compassionate and pure; to live the Teaching of the Buddha daily.
5. Right Livelihood – to earn our living in such a way as to entail no evil consequences.
6. Right Effort – to direct our efforts incessantly to the overcoming of ignorance and selfish desires.
7. Right Mindfulness – to cherish good and pure thoughts for all that we say and do arise from our thoughts.
8. Right Meditation – to concentrate our will on the Buddha, His Life and His Teaching.

The 4 Noble Truths are the basic basics of Buddhism. Zenji wants us to be happy. No mentioning of Suffering and Don’t worry about the topic of Suffering.

This is not to say the Buddha forbids happiness, I shall elaborate more. 2nd Measurement Tool and Main Doctrinal Discussion would be expanded as a separate post .

Thank you readers and followers.

Something more Depraved than Evil: Additional Archive to Supplement Lion’s Roar link

Mr. Daniel Burke is from religionnews.com. Below was a text archive.

Buddhist superhero?

This movie, starring someone who calls himself Zen Duke, claims to feature the world’s first Buddhist superhero.
I watched the trailer and I have no comment. See for yourself.

I love the trailer—its so cool. Adding a Buddhist perspective to a British legend … how incredible is that? To be frank I find your blog to be very cynical which is not what religion should be about at all. “Some who calls himself …” is inappropriate—what right have you to make fun of someone’s name? “Claims to be the first…” technically it is coz no other superhero film has been shot in 12 countries like this one. You probably are a right wing Christian who hates the Buddhist context of this film so you should just join Sean Hannity and Bill O at Fox news. And the website you linked to totally rocks!!! Great features and a lot of great info. Am very impressed and look forward to seeing the film =D PS: There are so many films that only spread bad values .. if a film tries to spread a good spiritual message and still be exciting in a cool way that can appeal to the box office—you should encourage them. Its so sad that every blog today .. even religious ones have to adopt a cynical tone. The liberal media encourages gangsta rap and promiscuity while religious blogs cannot even give props to a religious themed films. Sad.
Posted by lisa kay—January 23, 2009, 7:05 pm

Thanks, Lisa. I have no idea how shooting a film in 12 countries techincally makes Zen Duke the first Buddhist superhero. Furthermore, I would very much like to see more Buddhist content in the trailer, not less. All I saw in the trailier was some guy beating people up and getting down with some girl. When I think of Buddhism, those are not the first things that come to mind.
Posted by Daniel Burke—January 23, 2009, 7:41 pm

Thanks for writing, Jim.
I have seen mainstream Hollywood movies that quote sutras. “Kundun” by Martin Scorscese, for one.
Secondly, you say that gangsta rap glorifies sex and violence but this trailer puts them in a spiritual context. At the same time, you admit that the trailer uses sex and violence to “market” the film and to gain the attention of a mainstream audience. So, which is it? Exploitation or contextualization?
Thirdly, the connection between martial arts and Buddhism are just as much Eastern acculturations as is the Western proclivity for silent meditation. But I would like to hear more about how and why Jackie Chan connects Buddhism and fighting, if you could post again.

Finally, a news blog like this does not exist to prop up films, religious or otherwise.
Posted by Daniel Burke—January 25, 2009, 11:39 am

I really don’t know what you all are saying about the trailer having too much sex and violence. The trailer I just saw an hour back looks amazing and there is not much sex and violence at all so I don’t get where the hassle is. I love the ending with the poor kids waving .. that’s so touching!!! Either way, this is probably the first Hollywood styled action film that promotes Buddha, Shantideva and Bodhi Dharma in a cool way and they are each a billion times more important than the Dalai Lama will ever be. Its so funny that a western person like Daniel sees Kundun as a Buddhist film because they think the Dalai Lama is the Buddhist Pope. He is not. Kundun promoted the Dalai Lama and Tibet—not necessarily the Buddha or Bodhi Dharma or Shantideva. And yes Siddhartha did overcome sex and violence to become a Bodhisattva so the film is totally justified. All said and done I agree a blog like this is not to promote films but still the posting is very disrespectful. How would you like it if someone referred to this blog as “some guy who calls himself Daniel Burke writes a blog about religion … I have no comment”. Don’t mind Daniel but it seems to me you are a racist and upset that a popular legend from UK is being presented as a Buddhist. You are probably an evangelical Christian who is really upset and so you have a hidden agenda to undermine the filmmaker. But it seems to me he’s already making headlines in the biggest news publications especially in the East where Buddhist films get the respect they deserve so he does not need your blog lol. Still, a religious blog could and should be a lot more tolerant instead of vindictive like Daniels .. thats just my 2 cents =). Also, there is no correlation between this and gangsta rap .. this shows how one can overcome sex and violence to become a Bodhisattva like Siddhartha, Shantideva and Bodhi Dharma who were all Indian warriors who led the lives of roylaty before becoming spiritual …. gangsta rap shows mindless money and honeys lol. I am very impressed with the trailer and the concept of the film. And there is no character growth if an outlaw is born Buddhist. the story will work if he is an outlaw into sex and violence and then becomes a Buddhist. Thats a superb concept no matter if you are a Christian or a Buddhist.
Posted by Anand Prakash—January 29, 2009, 4:41 pm

Zen Duke is no doubt the first filmmaker to launch a Global Buddhist Superhero. Zen Duke is the only one to make a film about a Maha Bodhisattva on a Global Scale no one else has ever done it. Daniel Burke is a racist Christian who is upset that Zen Duke has remade Robin Hood as a Bodhisattva and is generating so much attention around the world.

Nice, Dorje. You clearly know me well.

Nebulia’s remark:

The names Lisa Kay Jonathan Smith sound like Westerners
The name Anand Prakash is Indian/Sri Lankan/Nepali
Dorje is a Tibetan name

They all wrote with few or no commas. Where commas were employed, they were to separate little names; whereas for the common convention that commas be used to “pause” a long sentence, they were not consciously, literately applied.

Lisa Kay, Jonathan Smith, Anand Prakash, Dorje, despite the name images to be of different cultural legacies, all wrote in long sentences with few or no commas. They was the same person, same tricks – pretended to be different persons of different upbringings; same mindset – someone most concerned with the movie and just could not tolerate even slight criticisms to the movie itself; same behaviour – the commentator was just saying little things innocuous, and the “team” responses were vengeful, fierce, “labelous” and “libelous” e.g. racism, Christian religious bias, accusations

Let’s link the link again:

https://www.lionsroar.com/robert-thurman-goes-hollywood-robin-hood-goes-zen/

Robert Thurman goes Hollywood; Robin Hood goes Zen (UPDATED)
Readers please also see the end of the previous post.

So we have Mr. Jonathan Smith, particularly I want to single out.

Quote: “We the glorified White people know more about Asian culture and Shaolin monks and Samurai Buddhist warriors and Bodhi Dharma (seen as the founder of Kung Fu by over a billion Asians) than the Asians …..of course. Think about it.”
If Mr. Jonathan Smith were a Caucasian, meant to be self-righteous to help defending the movie, having said the above self-sarcastic though rude statement, is one thing;
iff Mr. Jonathan Smith the man, were not a Caucasian (from the names, he could be either, or could be Lisa the woman), it is another thing. EVIL is less a word to describe it.

Remember, since nothing in this world is what it seems to be, therefore, nothing in this world is what it seems to be.

So we have Kaizen, Buddhadharma and Jeremy; Lisa Kay, Jonathan Smith and Anand Prakash. These supporting personalities, conceived to be and pretended to be different peoples from different heritages, appeared and attacked both pre-planned and capriciously (this is really mentally complex) around January 2009, and Dorje at July 2009.

Yes, do work yourself to become more famous. Snaps with more celebrities and authorities, collecting more testimonials would help. More and more people should know evil of such nature can exist; and the more famous you are, the more affirmatively we know who they was, and who they is. Grammatically and factually correct.

Cited personalities, and his primary theology

Hello, it’s been a while that me has new blog post.

Here we are. Thank you for your support, readers and followers.

He changed names, that his past activities with old names went hidden and buried. No one would have guessed. The job of this blog is to link things together. To serve humanity and Buddhism, by the end of the post readers will understand. This post is a bit long, thank you for your patience.

Before we get to the main discussion, which I aim to construct a frame and elaborates as time builds, let’s serve some information about the earlier Zenji Nio: “Zen Acharya”, that was quite an earlier name.

Zenji Nio refers to himself: “nothing more than a lowly servant of Buddha who wants to reflect the Love, Light and Compassion of the Blessed One to all who stagger in the darkness of negativity and despair from all over the world.” – This is beautiful, humble and modest.

Score: 1 *

Nebulia refers to himself: “I am a maggot serving my Higher.” – not beautiful.

Score: 0

* Following score grading we come to a retro-inspection. Below is how the previous Zenji website looked like.

Zen Acharya is a self-help sensation, motivational speaker and international filmmaker from the oldest and most influential Buddhist lineage of India. He is also the Founder CEO of the historic Zenji Museum of Asian Art and Heritage that houses one of the world’s top collections. While he prefers to keep a low profile, Zen Acharya is generating growing buzz with every lecture and exhibition. Here are the most credible websites to find out information on the Future of Self-Help and Buddhism.

WWW.NIOZEN.COM  :

This is arguably the coolest Dharma website you will find anywhere where Zen Acharya explains the most important teachings of Buddhism as followed by the Shaolin and Samurai warriors.

WWW.NIOZEN.NET:

Another funky website dedicated to the Zenji Museum of Asian Art and Culture which houses one of the world’s top collections of art, artifacts and antiquities from India, Japan, China & Asia.

WWW.RIGHTKARMA.NET:

Prepare to be literally blown away when you listen to excerpts of Zen Acharya as a motivational speaker – there is simply no one who compares.

An exhibition of Indian art and heritage to inspire and empower the world

WWW.THEKARMAREVOLUTION.COM:

A very innovative website where Zen Acharya explains what Karma means.

WWW.BODHI-DHARMA.COM:

The one you are waiting for is not yet fully functional but gives some information on Bodhi Dharma: Legend of the Shaolin and Samurai – the most powerful, awesome epic ever made on Bodhi Dharma – the founder of Shaolin Kung Fu and the Patron Saint of the Samurai Warriors.

A website where Zenji Acharya will teach the most important philosophies and practices of the Shaolin monks of China.

A website where Zenji Acharya shows you how to use the Samurai Code of the Bushido to deal with life’s challenges.

WWW.NIOZEN.ORG:

A very sleek website with information on the latest projects of Zenji Acharya along with his bio, news, contact information etc.

If you find anymore or would like us to include your blog or site, please email Lisa at info@zenji.org

Remark on above RIGHTKARMA.NET: he was not that modest and humble at times – e.g. quote “there is simply no one who compares”. So confident.

And do a manual eye-inspection (no software reliance needed): there was no mentioning of the name ‘Buddha’, there was a mere mentioning of ‘Buddhism’ in only 1 of the 9 websites, and it is the kind of Buddhism code limited to the Samurai and Shaolin niches. The other 8 websites, they were about himself and his stuff.

Where was the theme of “bringing back devotion”? Why and how investing energy to do Samurai and Shaolin codaic Buddhism – which seemed less connected to his Vedic-Brahminic Dharma upbringing?

Where was the hint of ancient Brahminic original Buddhism, his pronounced legacy and his proclaimed roots?

These contiguous websites, with his own descriptions, demonstrated that he just wanted to make it, trying out one business niche to another. If he had set off to Canada to missionize devotion and ancient Brahminic-Kashmir Buddhism, immediately after he had left his Himalayas academic tenure (as he says he stayed), that would have been more convincing about his mission statement.

“…..staggering in the darkness of negativity”, exactly, the best terminology to describe the business-centered Buddhism, and “egocentrics” – this is worth mentioning that he started with himself, and sees himself rising from despair.

Deduct 0.5 from earlier demonstrated immodesty and for trying to hide his immodest past.

Score after deduction: 0.5

Bah bah bah Always tells of ‘posh English accent’. English accent can be acquired for professional entertainment purpose. Here is Spice Girls tribute band Wannabe https://www.facebook.com/WannabeSGT/

https://twitter.com/wannabesgt?lang=en

They are Canadian girls. When they have professional shows, they get into English mindset and dialect like hours before. I acknowledge his is natural, but should not be obsessively polished as a marketing point. It is annoying. -0.1.

Revised score:-

Zenji Nio: 0.4

Nebulia: 0 – a maggot does not have any scores, a maggot does not deserve scores.

Let me affirm, be me a maggot, this blog has to be there.

Me shall cite 3 personalities, contemporary and ancient.

1. Former Tax Court Judge Diane Kroupa

http://www.abajournal.com/news/article/former_tax_court_judge_is_indicted_on_tax_evasion_charges

https://www.forbes.com/sites/taxanalysts/2016/04/13/no-deal-for-former-tax-court-judge-kroupa-blame-spiro-agnew/#1de0144c6123

https://www.justice.gov/usao-mn/pr/former-united-states-tax-court-judge-pleads-guilty-conspiring-defraud-irs-450000-taxes

Suppose in an imaginary dimension for the sake of discussion:

IRS to Kroupa: “Please show us your tax returns.” “Please validate your tax returns.”

(Imagined) Kroupa threw out these responses: “I am a Tax Court Judge myself. I was appointed to the Tax Court by President George W. Bush. I myself worked in the IRS offices before…”

My point: these are NOT PROOFS of her tax returns data and audit that were asked for.

Nothing in this world is what it seems.

2. Elizabeth Holmes, Founder of Theranos

(Imagined) Question presented to Miss Holmes: “How good is Theranos blood testing methodology?” “How accurate is the Edison blood testing system?”

(Imagined) Miss Holmes’ response: “Well, the State of Arizona officially legislated that allows for my Company’s Edison system; the Walgreens national drug chain works with our Company Theranos….”

http://www.businessinsider.com/science-of-elizabeth-holmes-theranos-2015-4

https://www.vox.com/2015/10/20/9576501/theranos-elizabeth-holmes

Worth quoting: “Over the next decade, Holmes managed not only to get her own Stanford professor and mentor on board, but also to attract $400 million from venture capitalists, and assemble a star-studded board that included former US Secretaries of State Henry Kissinger and George P. Shultz.

Theranos scandal widens:

http://www.foxbusiness.com/features/2016/04/04/theranos-scandal-widens-on-scathing-report.html

Worth quoting: Walgreens is reportedly looking for a way to get out of its agreement.

From controversy to demise:

http://www.zerohedge.com/news/2016-05-18/elizabeth-holmes-admits-theranos-technolgy-fraud-restates-voids-years-test-results

My point is: that with the presence of Stanford professors, Mr. Henry Kissinger and Mr. George Shultz on board; that the State of Arizona, a state government of authority, legislated and allowed for the Theranos system; that Walgreens worked with Theranos, are NOT PROOFS in answering the questions presented.

3. Sr. Magdalena of the Cross (1487-1560)

http://www.mysticsofthechurch.com/2011/12/sister-magdalena-of-cross-nun-who-made.html

(Imagined) Question to Sr. Magdalena, “Are you a Christian?” “Are you a child of God?”

(Imagined) Responses from her nuns on behalf of her, they are actual quotation from a paragraph section:

“Mother Magdalena receives the admiration of many top dignitaries – for Queen Isabella of Spain herself sends Mother Magdalena her portrait and beseeches Magdalena for her prayers, and also the Archbishop of Seville often writes to her, and in his letters he calls her “the happiest creature in the world…”
The noblest ladies, while pregnant and nearing their deliveries would send the layette to be blessed by her, as did the Empress Isabel before the birth of Philip II. When, in 1535, the Emperor Charles V was starting from Barcelona for the expedition to Tunis, he sent his banner to C6rdova that she might bestow on it her blessing. Cardinal Manrique, the inquisitor-general, and Giovanni di Reggio, the papal nuncio, made pilgrimages to visit her,…”

My point is: with all the dignified persons, both secular and Papal, royalties and people of thrones….these are NOT PROOFS in answering the question. Nebulia really recommends readers to read the Sr. Magdalena link content entirely.

A few remarks:

Do these styles of responses sound familiar? That is basically his approach. Once again, he was never able to provide you with his very first primary background physical credentials. I do not ask for the physical diploma paper copy per se, perhaps one learned from a master for decades and the master never issued a certificate e.g. kung fu.

What is your Guru’s name? Who bestowed you with the title Acharya? What did you do year by year after you turned 18? What did you do year by year before you turned 18?

I stand by my statement: what he was offered, shall be offered are real jobs alright, but he used fraudian means to obtain them. Once he got the first real job and testimonials, he could get the snow ball rolling to get other real jobs.

So the other proof would be a demonstration of the Buddhist immersion.

He has a new site now, with Buddist teachings. Not exactly the information that I asked for, but it is a good starting step, thank you.

https://www.buddha.expert/meditation

https://www.buddha.expert/kannon

https://www.buddha.expert/amida

https://www.buddha.expert/buddha

Before everything, it feels funny for this guy in metal gear and in tattoo steamy sex imagery to articulate Buddhist theology. https://rh2008.wordpress.com/

However I am talking in a non-funny attitude.

Me provides an analogy of to explain what I mean by “not exactly”. Me asks a Christian pastor, “Sir, would you furnish with us a few your past sermons and Christian teachings?” And the Christian pastor goes: “In Christian theology, there is the Trinity. The Triune God comprises the Holy Father, the Holy Son, and the Holy Spirit. God is kind, and God is just. The Holy Father gave His only begotten Son, Jesus Christ to the world (John 3:16)…The Pentecostal Christian denomination places importance in….” To reiterate, it is a good start, thank you again.

First thing is to make an image archive lest we had disputation in the future, they also serve as chronological reference.

To discuss his Buddhist teachings, we probably need to open a new post or even several posts to get things organized.

In brief, I am stating that his Buddhist theology is HIS theology only. He masqueraded these to present them as if they had been decent, mainstream, historically doctrinal. This is HIS theology, his own belief, his self study and understanding, or personal revelation.

In addition, his is not exactly Trinity, that reflects his (mis)understanding of Trinity and not being aware of the context of Modalism. His is Modalism, further down Buddhist Modalism. His Theistic Buddhist Modalism is particularly unique….. I am not even guessing this may be his family Buddhist legacy, because I refuted his Buddhist-Brahmin “historical” identity terminology previously. I have made archives, once the word Modalism shows up in his sites and spoken by him, then we know the chronological order.

Yes, I shall elaborate on the above. For the time being, this statement is meant to provide a balanced voice, so people can choose. That’s another reason why I did an image archive.

I do an analogy of his Buddhist theology to the commonly recognized Buddhism in the following.

Oahpse

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oahspe:_A_New_Bible

http://www.sacred-texts.com/oah/index.htm

http://oahspestandardedition.com/OAHSPE_Standard_Edition_for_Screen_Reading.pdf

Cao Dai

http://www.religioustolerance.org/caodaism.htm

http://www.religionfacts.com/cao-dai

http://www.caodai.org/web/content.aspx?pageID=1

Institute of Divine Metaphysical Research

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Institute_of_Divine_Metaphysical_Research

http://www.idmr.net/

My statement: his kind of Buddhism to common Buddhism, would be like the above religions/sects pairing with the common Christianity. The sect followers honestly believe their truth, and it is their religious freedom. He believes in his truth, it is his freedom; religious freedom also provides for this blog to provide an alternative voice and assessment.

I shall expand it academically opening new posts.

Query: “Well, other Buddhists are being friendly with him.” Ans.: “the common denomination Christian who loves to attend Mormom Choir Christmas Concert does not mean that he aligns with Mormonism doctrines.”

https://www.panam.guru/

Now he is CEO, World Leaders Initiative. And what about the World Buddhist Council that he founded and self-appointed as President? Feels like a snake shredding skin. The old skin is no longer useful and needed. His disinterest in proving WBC was and is a valid solidity proves my previous points. Using fake credentials with personal charisma to get real jobs.

https://www.panam.guru/comments – His testimonials are here now.

https://www.revnio.org/

– Worth mentioning: good works are good works. Thank you and applause.

Who says I want you to go down? On the contrary, work yourself to become more famous. As you become more and more famous, more and more people will search about you. And more and more people will get a chance to access this blog also, thus more and more people get to be aware of this link:

Robert Thurman goes Hollywood; Robin Hood goes Zen (UPDATED)

(Readers who are new, try to read that link content in totality, from top scrolling down to the end. It is about Zenji Nio’s earlier days that he made a failed movie.)

Firstly, it will also help to serve humanity and Buddhism in this way, to make people aware that such kind of evil exists. People just have to know, to acknowledge, that such unspeakable, ineffable evil can exist. No matter who wrote it, no matter who did it, no matter who claimed it, the significance is, evil lurks under such seemingly sophisticated religious languages to the layman, who may find them humane, righteous, spiritually beautiful. Evil is just around, Evil is always around.

To assist in what I want to say in the following about my “Secondly” point, again let’s google with brackets “Zen Duke 2008” “Zen Duke Robin Hood 2008” and “Zen Duke 2009”. We find tons of free blogspot and wordpress blogs with only 1 or 2 entries. These were supposed to be marketing promotions but they are indications of abuse of free public resources.

Here is a simple logic: when Zenji was less famous at that time, introducing himself as “Zen Duke” and his movie to the world during the development stage, there were perhaps hundreds of blogs popped up within a short period of time, by the surge of new fans touched and motivated by his charm, and the buzz of the movie; now that Zenji Nio is even much more famous, should we be seeing more fans influenced by his charm, in the thousands, in the tens of thousands setting up complimentary blogs to support him? To help to popularize him? Not so

i.e. the more famous he becomes, the ratio of visible fanbase support becomes more disproportionate. Therefore…..

Therefore Secondly, the more disproportionate the fanbase support is, the more we know affirmatively Kaizen, Buddhadharma and Jeremy who they was, and who they is. Grammatically and factually correct.

Thank you readers for your support.

Truth is Truth, even if no one believes it

Babaji is fond of saying that ‘Truth is Truth, even if no one believes it!’

Introduction

2015 had been a turbulent year, a lot of tragic events happened. Amidst and Aftermath of the tragic events, people desire to seek comfort and solace. The least thing one wants is false advice and solace, would anyone disagree?

The style of this blog had been somewhat softer, but softer did not mean submission. As mentioned, this blog will be as resilient and tenacious as is. Coming to 2016, the tone will be direct, in line with Dr. Martin Luther King Jr’s.

This post starts with the beginning of the names, and there is a reason and implication for starting with the names.

Discussion

Duke Panache, The Duke circa pre 2005-2007

http://therealjdb.blogspot.ca/2007/10/duke-panache.html
theduke.net and dukepanache.com are gone.

We know Duke is not the bestowed legacy title from an European historical empire, Duke is “dukkha” abbreviated. He liked the Buddhist notion of suffering. Yet you don’t call nor address yourself as ‘Guru Suffering’, so shortened as Duke.
Panache: it was well-intentioned, well-dressed, but not so well-conceived to mean multi-talented, as the name Panache was already a UK brand name of garments.
Zenji pictures Gandhara_Buddha_(tnm) Zenji pictures

Try google.com and/or image google.com options, type ‘Panache lingerie’, ‘Panache bras’, so sexy…
Setting aside the possible propriety name concern, you don’t call nor address yourself Guru Lingerie, or Guru Panty…that was a careless setback without having done thorough research.

Humor and failed names aside, the implication is, iff, for the sake of debate, his ancestors had a mission for him to bring back devotion to Buddhism,
http://toronto.interculturaldialog.com/exploring-faiths-greater-buddhism-mahayana-with-zenji-acharya/
and iff, his legacy guru had given him an academic name (we know it is not Duke Panache), why mistakenly named yourself Duke Panache with fuss and made a movie (and ultimately failed) when there were serious instructions to do missionary works?

Zen Duke

He likes BodhiDharma, kept the Duke. So “Duke Zen” or “Zen Duke”? Zen Duke it was.
Zenji image
Zen Duke, despite the sexy mishap and blunder, continued to go sexy, hot and steamy, just without the Panache (UK woman knicker brand) name.

See this blog link https://rh2008.wordpress.com/
Zen Duke tattoo

btw We ask the readers to start to notice and sense the psychiatric confidence mixing with blasphemy, of the supporter personalities, arising out of promoting and defending the Robin Hood movie e.g.
http://www.lionsroar.com/robert-thurman-goes-hollywood-robin-hood-goes-zen/
scroll down on the comments to the bottom
Since the responders were the same person, the individual supporter entities are fictional i.e. a lie, yet Buddhadharma the lier was accusing Mr. Sperry of not being an awakened Buddhist! See this first post “buddhadharma says January 15, 2009 at 5:37 pm” – my evaluation: Very strong indeed, but a kind of psychiatric, evil strong.

Zen Acharya circa 2011

(Question now: where did the title Acharya come from then, in promoting Karma Revolution?)
The movie did not boot up, no matter how the supporter personalities say about “buzz buzz buzz” at that time.
So he went on and promoted his Karma Revolution.
http://www.rightkarma.net/ (he may close it anytime)
http://www.washingtonbanglaradio.com/content/3784610-karma-new-revolution-movie-release-explain-michael-jacksons-death-and-tiger-woods-ap
http://www.marketwired.com/press-release/canadian-epic-explores-karma-of-michael-jackson-on-his-53rd-birth-anniversary-1554637.htm

The Revolution did not happen.
We also ask the readers to start to notice and sense the Messianic message, hints of narcissism and egoism. The message is, contemporary Buddhism needs a revolution, and Zen Acharya is the one to bring about.

Nio Acharya

Since the Revolution did not happen, just wanted to initiate and promote his brand of Nio-Zen, which already has had a traditional meaning and context in traditional Japanese Buddhism. It was an example of hi-jacking existing traditional citizens’ legacy for personal agenda, which Zenji Acharya taught against, in his lecture on Mahayana Buddhism.
Zen Duke
Nio-Acharya also liked Bodhidharma. Nio wanted to make a movie too, again nothing happened.

Nio Acharya had Facebook and LinkedIn accounts.
https://www.facebook.com/nio.acharya
https://www.linkedin.com/in/nioacharya

Since right now the newest name is Zenji Nio from 2016 and on, those two Nio Acharya social media accounts were wasted. Those free public social media bandiths were wasted. This is a reference point.

Should Nio Acharya recall that he no longer need those accounts and asked Facebook and LinkedIn to delete them, I have printscreen and other archives for disputation and archive purposes; and if eventually they are deleted, Facebook and LinkedIn can re-confirm with us the past registration data for official purposes.

(Duke Sash – in between Zen and Zenji – the owner operator of a video studio service called Hollywood Center, somewhat located in Adelaida, California.)
Zen Duke the hollywood center1

Zenji Acharya

Zenji means “Zen teacher”, his current title translated into English, would be like “zen teacher abbott”. so it does not really mean a dharma name.

Self-description: the Highest Acharya from the ancient Brahmin-Buddhist line which traces directly to the Lord Buddha himself.
Zenji Acharya official website: Zenji.org

Zenji Nio (circa 2016 and on)

http://www.panam.guru/
Dropped the title Acharya.
It’s a beautiful, wonderful website – Buddhist teachings please?
http://www.panam.guru/#!bio/c786
His brief bio did not talk about his past business and Buddhist ventures though.
That asked, he does not need to do, nor showing Buddhist teachings now, nor does he need to prove his Buddhist knowledge now.
He is an motivation expert now and goes from there….

Commentary and Implications encapsulating with the Introduction above

The overall significance is, if you can name yourself to various names, in theory you can name yourself as an Acharya without the backup credentials. Your teachings on the Mahayana basics is an academic proof (or proof of lack of academics), you may as well provide counter-proofs of what I point out here.

Names, names, names. See his own link and his response:
http://www.zenji.org/4901.html
Talks talks talks, invoking invented Hindu-Buddhist laws, …notice one thing and sort it out with discernment though – he never told you, was not able to provide documented proof where his legacy is from, geographically, academically, dharma-spiritually.

And for the sake of argument, if you are so observant and reverent towards Hindu-Buddhist dharma laws, what is the ‘hot and steamy sex’ scene doing in your Buddhist Robin Hood movie? And the SMian gears?
https://rh2008.wordpress.com/
Quote: “3. Hottest love scenes of any PG 13 film – SO steamy! Check out all the pictures in the gallery of Marian & Robin!”

Allow me Nebulia to be a bit colloquial this time: “Hindu and Buddhist dharma laws my neck! Superlative testimonials my neck!”

What is the tattoo doing in the front? The body is a body of sacredness, a temple, what is the ‘attachment’ doing there? “Bringing back devotion to Buddhism?” Start with purifying your own body temple in the devotion process.

We have 2 observations which are both problematic and sacrilegious:

Version A.
Zenji was never a boy monk, was never of any heritage nor legacy….the boy monk pictures were other people’s pictures. See the picture of Nio Acharya – did the boy monk Zenji even look like him?
(google image is fine)
He spent his childhood as non-Zenji childhood, grew up to a young man, sought to make it with a hot steamy sex movie under the cover of Buddhism circa 2005-2006, 2008-2009. Turned around and claimed to be a Brahmin-Buddhist. And, another way to say it, 7 years after the steamy sex rolls counting from 2008, Zen Duke emerged around and claimed to be Zenji Acharya, a Brahmin-Buddhist of the highest legacy observant about Hindu-Buddhist laws in his Acharya names and dharma identity, ‘lectured’ as recently as past autumn 2015 on Rosa Parks; in 2014 he also gave a talk on Mahayana Buddhism, and emphasized that his ancestors commissioned him to bring back devotion (Hah?) to Buddhism.

Version B.
Zenji, aka Zen Duke, claimed to be an Acharya of noble Brahmin-Buddhist lineage. He was a boy monk showing his shaving ceremony picture. He claimed to be well-versed and observant in Hindu-Buddhist laws. Zenji the boy monk grew up to a young man, deviated from his devotion, and name despite that his ancestors had duties for him to bring back devotion, fell to his flesh, made and promoted hot and steamy PG-13 sex in his Robin Hood movie circa 2005-2006, 2008-2009 (promoting it the 2nd time meant he really wanted to get into it and made it). And, another way to say it, 7 years after the steamy sex rolls, Zen Duke emerged around and claimed to be Zenji Acharya, a Brahmin-Buddhist observant about Hindu-Buddhist laws in his Acharya names and dharma identity, ‘lectured’ as recent as past autumn 2015 on Rosa Parks; in 2014 he also gave a talk on Mahayana Buddhism, and that his ancestors commissioned him to bring back devotion (Hah?) to Buddhism.

Before we continue, we pause to lament that both versions are problematic and pathetic. Zenji just had to pick and affirm one version that is less damaging and toxic. I am inclined towards the former, Zenji might insist it was B – either way you still have to resolve your Buddhist knowledge issue, and the concern of blasphemy.

Even though he trusted himself to give Buddhist talks and intellectualizing Buddhist archaeology, we could not afford to trust into it.

A word of advice for the tattoo, you don’t need to go so far as to say ‘it was just a temp tattoo just for the film….” If that so, some of us would request a dermatological proof to examine the traces of ink forensically. Whatever that thing is, just laser it off – and we’ll talk Hindu-Buddhist laws!

In addition, unless you show us the tattoo is no longer there, we are to assume the tattoo is still there. You have of course the reservations not to show us, we of course have the reservation that the tattoo is still there.

http://www.zenji.org/4922.html intensive wordings, ultimately he did not provide proof whether he is an academic acharya (your guru name and/or the seminary, certificate of graduation, please) or his last name is Acharya (birth certificate please).

‘Twas elementally a high school student who self-studied Buddhism in a misconstrued way.

Notice this blog has never said, “Stay away from him!” This blog actually suggests people to attend his lectures (if the dates and venues are available from him) and decide for themselves. If there is a chance, attend his other events and observe too.

This blog has to be here, just so people have the right and information to choose. He says the internet critics have personal agendas, please just refer to my provided physical data (or concerning his lack-of), and decide for yourself.
In the least, noticeably he had nothing much to mention about the cyber cell World Buddhist Council of which he is the founding-director. This blog has to be here to raise a question, or suggestion. http://www.worldbuddhistcouncil.org/thesite/index.swf

This one proof is simple, even though WBC does not have a physical address yet – set up a twitter account and see how many followers are following? Do and should, in the least, the WBC committees and members follow the tweets of the President? That said, not a Facebook account, although it is nice to see one set up. Facebook friends who ‘like’ the Facebook account can be purchased. And, a suggestion is you can tweet the patterned or spontaneous Buddhist teachings.

http://www.spiritualeducation.org/work/conf2015/program
Notice that the lecturers authored a video of what they lectured. Click the blue links of their lectures.

http://spiritualeducation.org/work/conf2015/mofid
Prof Mofid did not have a video, yet he provided plenty of what his lecture is about for us to do further research and contemplation.

Doesn’t it strike you that Zenji’s lecture has no videos nor relevant written introductions or translated media of Universal Harmony afterwards? For those who missed the ‘lecture’, they missed it. These are the factual physical data (or lackof):

he did not want to share with you his Buddhist teachings

(I know why, and he knows why), no matter how polished his zenji.org and Panam activities are; no matter how intensive he wrote about his own dharma legacy. Talking about Universal Harmony….

That he mentions about ‘internet critics’ and in turn criticizes them, he indirectly admits he is aware of this blog. He is not able to confront the physical data presented, and he has beautiful defences to ignore this blog: “the critics have personal agendas”.

Yes, admittedly, my agenda is to ask a Buddhist teacher, who presents himself with all the testimonials as a knowledgeable Buddhist teacher, to show his Buddhist teachings. In fact I shouldn’t have to. And his personal agenda? Is NOT to show his Buddhist teachings.

Another beautiful way to give up a defence: “I only surround myself with positive people and positive energies.” i.e. “I only surround myself with glamour…” – So what happened with the innocence of serving Mother Teresa at youth? The innocent spirit of serving the poorest of the poor, sick and homeless in the dark ghettos…these are negative energy things I bet, he no longer wished to associate with these now, in his own wordings. (Naturally I keep printscreens; in addition, printscreens serve for lyrical archive and disputation purposes.)
In addition, wasn’t the King father of Prince Buddha trying to do just that? Surrounding the young Prince with glamour, but the Buddha sleeked out and saw suffering; our Buddhist guru Zenji did it the opposite way, helping with Mother Teresa and now seeks glamour; and spending so much space defend his title, and not even little, meager, tiny spaces for Buddhist teachings.

Tons of problems are there: his actual age when he start to study dharma, his own Buddhist origin and legacy (Pala or Kashmir?), his BASIC Buddhist knowledge (direct teachings in mp3, videos, articles please, where you traveled, childhood photos and testimonials are not Buddhist teachings please), his faded and failed projects such as Karma Revolution, Nio-Zen and Vedantic Buddhism, and shelved movies: Robin Hood starring Zen Duke in metal gear (other people’s investment money), “The Armor [sic American spelling] of God” said filmed in Israel….

Good things are good things, that he brought happiness to the Panam athletes and staff; credits are credits. http://www.cbmin.org/tag/faith/ The joint statement is admirable, although I have reservations that he carries with himself the title of President of WBC, with no membership except himself.

Simple: prove your Council’s solidity just by setting up a twitter and/or an instagram account. Say tweets from the President, at least some members, and the committee members would follow?

2 facts, however decorative and excited his website is:
No Buddhist teachings available
No venue and time of future Buddhist talks, or his activities in general, available

Even for a past event with known venue and time that already happened, only Zenji’s lecture content is not available (! & ?)
http://www.spiritualeducation.org/work/conf2015/program

– this blog is here just so he can face his (questionable) past; so we can face his (almost unnoticeable and forgotten) past so that we are informed, if I may go so far to say – so that he is informed. This lone blog’s lone voice serves out there.
– Yes. “Everything You Need to Know About Buddhism (But No One Else Is Telling You).” – Nice. I look forward to that book; and readers, may well agree then, why can’t I write a blog about ‘Everything You Need to Know About Sanjay (But No One Else Is Telling You)’? Fair circuit, yes?

Lyrical Memorandum:

Let’s google with brackets “Zen Duke 2008” “Zen Duke Robin Hood 2008” and “Zen Duke 2009”. We find tons of free blogspot and wordpress blogs with only 1 or 2 entries. These were supposed to be marketing promotions but they are indications of abuse of free public resources.

Technically, a person cannot create and own more than one blog as they check duplicate email addresses the time the blogger creates and logs in a blog; i.e. the person(s) will first have to create a unique email address in order to create a new blog.

We know that it was an effort of one single person, the styles of the blogs were similar to and familiar with each other. Be that they are multiple persons, that means it was a co-ordinated effort still pointing to a single team leader.

Yes, admittedly the tattoo image is sourced from https://rh2008.wordpress.com/, if there are propriety concerns that the cited blog was an unauthorized promotion with the images. (To reiterate, why did the movie have hot steamy sex to begin with? Why did the actor have tattoos to begin with?)

If it is considered that lyrical persons of letters be contacted relating to the propriety concerns, we first wish to strongly suggest, and whole-heartedly look forward to a joint effort in resolving the propriety concerns together with Google (owner of blogspot.com) and WordPress, using IT forensics investigating who was abusing and wasting public free resources of blog space bandiths, creating multiple singular email addresses just for setting up a promotion blog with meager entries, etc. And they are numerous. The forensic information would provide a clue to find out this (if unauthorized) person who misused Zen Duke’s film image, blogspot and wordpress spaces, in an unauthorized manner.

This high school academic will still be resilient and tenacious, so is this blog. He will keep it going. He does want to prove “See who has the last laugh?”

I do not see who has the last laugh, it’s a predicament. Sentimentally I look at…..who laments the last tears: the Buddha; if there is a god, God.

Afterthoughts:

As humanity entered the dawn of the new millenium year 2000, you thought that there will be peace, prosperity, friendship, co-operation, harmony…..all the goods that we dream about….but instead only after 1 year and 9 months, the world turned to another dimension, another direction, which, IMHO, is irreversible.

Remember my ‘wordplay’ of the word ‘L-I-V-E’ and ‘E-V-I-L’? See Evil, is a mirror to Live, in reverse.

Yes, I was born before 2000. I am still a bit old-fasioned, good and evil, right and wrong are absolutes, they are situated at opposite ends.

But coming to the 2000s, the old values ‘good’ ‘evil’, ‘right’ ‘wrong’ have becoming blurred. Good and Evil is a spectrum, is something seen as one unit, this unit is in times an application, whenever they come to handy to attain, to get something.

http://www.lionsroar.com/robert-thurman-goes-hollywood-robin-hood-goes-zen/
Lions Roar again. This is to illustrate the real world example.

Pull down to ‘jeremy101 says January 15, 2009 at 11:35 pm’
Quote: ‘….my daughter came up to me and said “what’s a Bodhisattva”? That question brought tears to my eyes….’

This is beautifully Buddhist. Then pull down the screen to the end of scroll.
Ony this person can pull out something so beautifully Buddhist AND AT THE SAME TIME intrinsically evil.

I am getting old now, I used to think good and evil are absolutes.

Coming to another topic. Can a person create some qualifications out of thin air, use it to impress people with personal charm, and use the connection for further connections and build a network of powerful connections, and reach there? He could not prove his academic qualifications, his title President of World Buddhist Council, that he founded on his own, had not shown any activities. Wasn’t being a committee member of Buddhist Council of Canada good enough? Can you tell us who conferred to you the title ‘Acharya’?

I am still old-fashioned in observing ‘using invented qualifications to get real positions’.

Remember: in this chaotic times, the keyword is Discernment.
Readers when you are navigating his websites, appreciate the good by all means yes, but take a deep breath, close and open your eyes, amongst the heavy and intensive wordings, he was never able to prove anything e.g. his formal Buddhist qualifications, he just talked about shaving his head studying in the Himalayas (the teachers’ names please, something so simple to do)…And in all the intensity you delve, he is like navigating you to here and there as if he manages to evade other agendas. Anyways, he no longer needs to do Buddhist teachings, thus he no longer needs to show Buddhist teachings, and he can evade his Acharya and other qualification concern. Right, no Buddhist teachings in Panam.guru.

Ven. Zenji Nio, could you tell us year by year what did you do after you turned 18 after finishing high school as a proper Bio? It is your Bio, not your ancestors’ Bio. I don’t think you mind people can more or less guess your present age from your pictures and meeting you in real life, so people more or less have an idea how many years are there from that year to current 2016 as of.

Academically speaking, can you make a list of the lectures and the titles (with contents even better!) in a chronological order?

In Zenji.org, if the website is still there, readers will find emulated interviews (unless the ‘interviewer’ can tell us and verify his media position, the name of the media e.g. website, blog, newspaper, magazine, radio) raising a question like ‘When you get more famous, you will attract more attacks and accusations…’ Not even getting into Buddhist doctrinal debates and the other controversies, we have 3 data items:
1. childhood boy monk pictures (earlier years)
2. Self-produced Robin Hood movie steamy sex scene and chest tattoo (2018)
3. giving a talk on Mahayana basics claiming he was commissioned to bring back Devotion to Buddhism. (2014)
These are your data sir, these are your supplied data sir.

All the photos with people of weight and authority help to polish and add to his weight too, but readers ask yourself this question, when the person of weight and authority was asked by the photographer, or him, to take a picture, does the person go ‘Wait, I shall check if this person was called Duke Panache, Zen Duke before and he made a bad and sexy movie (thus breaking his vows) and there were questionable controveries, failed ventures, and I’ll agree to take a picture with him together.’ To the persons it was just a picture at that moment, right?

Reader if you solely look at panam.guru with the host Zenji Nio, which he is transitioning to, he acts like he had conditioned himself like nothing happened in between: coming from a Buddhist legacy family, having been a child monk, initiating and starting his Buddhist studies, missionary and benevolency works in a straight chronological line, all the beautiful pictures and stories…And I said, “No way. That, is already a deception.”

Invention of qualification to work in a big corporation is one thing, it is a compulsive greed for money and high tide career; invention of qualification, like a resident ID to work in a restaurant basement washing dishes, to make survival and send money home is also one thing, but inventing qualification to become a Buddhist teacher is another thing, one may be able to make a living, and quantitatively it not predictable; so what’s left are 2 possible explanations:

1. there is really a heart of fire to spread Buddhism, perhaps by some kind of epiphany he gained certain insights, perhaps by ancestral (ancient Indian-Aryan) family heritage instructions in Buddhist missionary that he felt the urge to initiate and fulfill his missionary vocation….then why a heavy metal movie with hot & steamy sex? Why Nio-Zen of Japanese medieval legacy? (And why embodying Nio-Zen to serve your own agenda?) Last but not least, why having concealed the Buddhist teachings if there is a heart of fire? Shouldn’t the teacher make the teachings as much as available, as expansive as available, for the fire and passion towards Buddhism? The meagre, available teachings that we can find, they are data erroneous, why so?

So it is not 1, what left’s is 2. Read on.

Freudian-Jungian addenum: obsession with testimonials but no Buddhist teachings, nor any methodology nor any other academic materials to share. Obsession with testimonials to the extent that even anchoring the weights before his missing “Buddhist teachings” themselves is an upside-down predicament.

Nebulian addenum: testimonials can be faked and created out of thin air. Refer to below link and scroll to bottom. This link was talked about before, for this time the focus is on Prof. Peter Larisey. Therefore, whether mahasweta and others are the same person is not our concern for this time.

http://www.washingtonbanglaradio.com/content/24966915-dharma-shines-again-torontos-un-world-interfaith-harmony-event
Quote: University of Toronto Professor Peter Larisey….further elaborated that any claims that Jesus is the only path to salvation are erroneous and all faiths must be open to interfaith understanding.

Nebulia: This article author did not know how to fake testimonials, therefore such inaptness exposed that the testimonials/supports are faked. Prof. Larisey is an ordained Roman Pontificate Jesuit Catholic Priest, he would NEVER say “any claims that Jesus is the only path to salvation are erroneous”. These words were imposed on Professor Larisey’s mouth.
It is true that the Catholic Church is more inclusive and respectful of other faiths, but not in the way the author wanted it to be said from Professor Larisey’s mouth.

If the author wanted to fake it better, he could have articulated this way:
University of Toronto Professor Peter Larisey….further elaborated that what Jesus says “I am the way and the truth and the life (John 14:6)”, can be interpreted in a contemporary, interfaith understanding spiritual context. “Those live the way of the righteous, uphold the truth, walk the life of spirit and deliverance, Jesus is in their hearts.”

At best, it is a due consideration to contact Prof. Peter Larisey if he did say such things. Readers are welcome to contact Peter Larisey, or, the author mahasweta can contact Prof. Larisey to read this blog and leave a message/comment to confirm if he did say it. And if Mahasweta intends to delete it, he admits that these data are faked – and I have archives.

I am just saying testimonials can be faked. Should Zenji Nio be on-guard to defend, “Mine are REAL testimonials….”, thank you, but you are still going the wrong direction. What is the point of vigorously defending these are genuine 3rd-party testimonials without showing the ultimate 1st-party testimonials? i.e. your own teachings?

2. solely for the satisfaction of recognition, admiration, compliments, in front of groups of audiences, and does manage to make a due living. Freud, Jung and Adler will tell you this is to make up for something missing in the past.
Buddhism is his business, literally and non-literally. His contiguous, one-after-the-other Buddhist ventures tell us so. Buddhism is his enterprise, trial-and-error, this-and-that enterprise.

So it is not 1, “2.” is the only explanation left.

What made him a motivation expert without having formal academic discipline and training, in areas of analytical psychology, psychotherapy, is to anyone’s guess.

I shall do a self-composed Q & A interview session too.
Q. How about his narration that he lectured along with Harvard and Oxford scholars?

A. In responding to that, I also self-composed a subset of Narration and Response:

N. “I lectured along with Oxford scholars.”
R. “Great. Please share with us what’s the topic and what did you talk about?”
N. “Yes. I lectured along with Harvard scholars in another occassion too.”
R. “That’s great. Again, what is the lecture about?”
N. “…..Yes, yes. I once met with Toronto Archbishop Monsignor Collins….”
R. “It is an honour indeed. So what did you two talk about, can you share with us your benevolent conversations? I heard that it was video-taped, can you show us the play media schedules, can you yourself add the you-tube video in your website?”
N. “And also I will be giving a lecture on…..”

A. (….contd. from above) You tell me, what is the point of telling people “I am with so and so scholar” and not revealing the educational content itself?

Q. But then, what about the medals that he helped the athletes won? And reported in National Post too.

A. This is his Ace card. Medals are medals. Credits are credits. Congratulations to the parties.
There is a human condition jargon call Placebo Effect, in short, is that the subject really believes it works, then it helps and works for the subject. Readers may have heard about patient experiments that simple vitamin pills were told by the doctors-in-experiment that they are researched pills to treat particularly their diseases. And patients reported that they showed progress.

So, that the athletes believed, trusted in the coach, trusting that he possesses the relevant and due academic qualifications according to the way the coach presents himself. They embrace the methods with trust.
Say, had the teacher presented himself and his coaching this way: “Now here is my methodology to boost your confidence to win in the fields…btw I made a failed steamy sex movie before, I tried other Buddhist enterprises before, I have a blasphemous tattoo righthere in my chest, wanna see it? And I never really had formal Buddhist nor psychological academic education, you wanna try my motivation method?”

Having based on trust (“…he is a Buddhist Master, things can’t go wrong”), but in reality it was based on deception. In the long run, would the deception be blown? What will be the unspeakable devastating consequences?

He is aware of this blog. My turn to explore and share some psychological thoughts:
– Is he angry-angry like ‘I wish that worm would go away. I WILL crush that worm, that obnoxious maggot….’
– Or, is he like ‘May the compassionate Buddha God forgive his unknowing….’

Yes, be me a worm, a maggot, this lone blog with a lone voice has to be there. He has powerful connections now, he is a ‘giant’ now. So it is a small tiny against a giant with all the decorations, collections, powerful associations…

Be me a maggot, a worm, I have a Higher to serve, and I serve my Higher.

PART IV The story of a Buddhist Guru’s dilemma: showing his teachings or not?

Zenji will give a lecture in Waterloo, Ontario in September 2105
The Buddha’s Teachings on Universal Harmony that influenced Mahatma Gandhi, Rosa Parks & the Dalai Lama
http://www.spiritualeducation.org/work/conf2015/acharya

Worthwhile to create a new post. Right indeed, this action has an underlying context to make people ponder:

Whether he is aware of this blog or not – is he going to post his own future lecture date in his Zenji.org?

Dilemma 1: if he is not going to, i.e. this blog is doing the linking for him, and even his own website is not going to link his own future lecture engagement to invite more people to attend…and it does not make sense – considering his mass collection of Testimonials. “He is good…” “He is excellent…”, but he is not going to inform people that he will be giving a lecture and invite people to hear how good he is.

Dilemma 2: if he is going to link his future lecture, which we shall all wait and see; will he post his own lecture content after the lecture is over, as an etiquette?

Dilemma 0.0: either he is aware of this ‘critique’ blog, so he is aware that this blog does the educational link for his own lecture in September 2015, and if he is like, “Oh well, since that blog linked it already, I don’t need to link it.” How sad.
Or, he is not aware of this blog, so he is not even aware that this blog does the educational link for his own lecture in September 2015; and he himself would not even bother to share it with the public regarding this opportunity, that the public can have personal access to his dharma talks, and the occasion for more public members to validate his listed Testimonials. How sad.

Dilemma 0.1: My feeling is that he is not likely to inform people about this future lecture engagement in his own website, because as an etiquette he would have to post his lecture content afterwards, which he had been reluctant to do so. However he really likes to list the praises, Testimonials, awards, snapshots, accomplishments. How sad.

If he is not likely to inform people about the Waterloo speaking engagement, he is not likely to post his lecture content after it is over; that said, he is likely to post more Testimonials of the happened events.

He wants to project this image: “If I am not solid, how could the celebrities have written me testimonials and organizations have invited me?”
Here I have illustrated the Testimonials are courtesies, and an established faith organization invited him giving a talk about Mahayana too – it turned out to be data-erroneous and charlatanian.
Ultimately, strive to gain direct access to his teachings and talks, and determine for yourself. For those with a fee – really step back and think about it.

In summary and short: he wants to show and he does not want to show. We shall leave that to Prof. Freud and Jung.

Relink again, but this time let’s focus on the near bottom:
http://www.spiritualeducation.org/work/conf2015/acharya

The Acharya prefers to call himself “the lowest servant of the servants of the servants of Lord Buddha”.

I apologize to the Acharya as I am not buying his humbleness, yet. I know it is not a pleasant statement, to both parties.
If the Acharya has decided to resort to legal action, I shall apologize in the designated legal venue that I am not buying his humbleness i.e. if the Acharya is saying “I am very very very humble…so if you say I am not humble enough, I will sue you”, I am apologizing now.

That said, I hope the Acharya shall respond to my concern, my reasons of not buying:

If you say you are the lowest of the lowest servant, shouldn’t you be the most most zealous in your missionary works for the Lord Buddha, in the least, to post the lecture dates in your own website, that your dharma talks can reach out to more people? The people who cannot, could not attend your lectures, and the overseas dharma seekers, who can benefit from your talk of “Universal Harmony”?

I am not obligating you, and no one else is, indeed you obligated yourself when you opt for, preferred to be looked at, being the lowest lowest servant of the Buddha. I applaud you for that, but I am not buying it, at the present moment.

The spirit of the talk is UNIVERSAL: where is the universality, if you limit your dharma teachings to those who are aware of the events just now and are able to physically attend the lecture in Waterloo?

The spirit of the talk is HARMONY: where is the harmony, when you want to show and don’t want to show – that’s contradictory isn’t it? When you want to show your awards, testimonials, co-snaps and don’t want to show your past and current lecture contents, and the dates of lecture engagement?
Quoted: “Rev. Acharya’s lectures at numerous universities, temples and charitable events have been praised by prominent national leaders in Canada as well as abroad.” Where is the harmony, that you gave numerous lectures and there is not one single lecture content released in your own website? Please do it at least for this one, since it is called Universal Harmony.

On professional academic etiquette – the above URL links to your zenji.org. Thus then, shouldn’t your website dedicate an index, a page, to elaborate further on the Universal Harmony talk? Sort of like a preface of a book. With the mindset of a low low servant, shouldn’t you be more professionally dedicated if this is almost your full-time vocation?

I hope the Acharya shall respond to my concerns, I apologize again about my notions in this particular post.
After they get resolved then I look forward to unfolding my perspectives.

I shall be there attending the lecture.

Part III “Ain’t Wanna Bring Devotion Back to Buddhism no more?” The Story of a Buddhist Guru’s Noble Ancestry

Looks like the Acharya has rebranded himself as a Self-help Expert, instead of styling himself as a knowledgeable Buddhist teacher with numerous testimonials.

“So Buddhism is not the world’s first devotional religion? No problem, I remarket myself as a self-improvement expert…..” But then, the Acharya no longer seeks to bring devotion back to Buddhism anymore?

It is not that simple, there are considerable implications and we elaborate.

The Acharya would still use Testimonials, instead of linking his own audible lectures in mp3 or converted-readable-pdf-lectures, or adding written teachings in his zenji.org, to tell people how good his scholarship is.

The Acharya has a long list of Testimonials and massive photos with celebrities. The Buddha advises that ‘Don’t go by reports, inferences…’.

http://www.accesstoinsight.org/tipitaka/an/an03/an03.065.than.html
Quote: Kalamas, don’t go by reports, by legends, by traditions, by scripture, by logical conjecture, by inference, by analogies, by agreement through pondering views, by probability, or by the thought,

Yes, this blog itself is also subject to the Buddha’s advice: don’t go by inferences. Listen to the Buddha, examine the Acharya’s teachings and sayings yourself, instead of only relying the Acharya’s testimonials of words, or co-snaps with celebrities, or this blog’s analysis and inferences.

The first establishment is that Kashmir and West Bengal regions they are different geographical places in India.

Map Source: the Government of India

Map Source: the Government of India

The term “Buddhist-Brahmin”, if that exists, is possible. Mahayana Buddhism originated from the Kashmir region of India, where there was a concentration of Brahmin pundits/scholars.

Refer to:
Kashmiri Pandits: Looking to the Future“; by M. K. Kaw p.218 “Mahayana Buddhism originated from Kashmir”, and wiki entry http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Buddhism_in_Kashmir
“In Kalhana’s time, and before, there was apparently no distinction between “Hindus” and Buddhists in Kashmir. Kalhana himself used Buddhist terms and expressions as a Buddhist would.
Nilamata Purana was the text of the worshippers of Nila Naga, the Naga worship was common in Kashmir. It mentions the prevalence of Buddhist worship as a common practice in Kashmir.”

“Acharya” is not a casual title, it is to be conferred upon by another Guru with the title Acharya after the student had completed the required rigorous studies.

Acharya explained that his last name is Acharya, from West Bengal region of India. His family provided stewardship for the Madhgada Empire Pala temples.

Quoting from his latest lineage claims in his Mahayana Buddhism lecture,
setting aside the place of origin of Sri Bodhidarmaji, we would just go with Sri Nagarjunaji. If the Acharya, claims to be of lineage of Nagarjuna, then his legacy is from Kashmir.

He can’t have both. He can’t have both logically, geographically and historically, with last name Acharya of West Bengal/Darjeeling heritage, and with the identity of Buddhist-Brahmin, traced back to Kashmir Himalayan region.

In short, if his last name is Acharya, his heritage can’t be from Kashmir-the Himalayas, he can’t claim to be a Buddhist-Brahmin.

If he claims to be of Kashmir Mahayana Nagarjunaji linage, he can’t be from West Bengal with a last name Archaya.

Additional reference http://drkkdebnath.blogspot.ca/2012/05/research-note-on-origin-of-bengali.html
Scroll down: Acharya as last name is a last name. Bengali Brahmins surname list does not include the surname “Acharya”.

It is not diffcult to explain things out verbally. The Acharya does not have an explanation to do, we all can figure out there are 2 paths to smooth out and connect this:
a. My ancient ancestry is West Bengal, then my family heirloom relocated to Kashmir when Mahayana Buddhism arose….(~ but he says his ancestral family had been providing stewardship for the Madhaga Pala temples for historical generations, so the family had rooted and prospered in West Bengal )
b. My father’s side is from West Bengal, thus the last name Acharya (but last name “Acharya” is non-Brahmin, see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brahmin Brahmin status requirements of both parental sides), my mother’s side, also Brahmin, is from Kashmir, thus Buddhist-Brahmin
(~ But that’s not what he told us about his family, as the identity of Nio-Acharya)
c. Additional reference again http://drkkdebnath.blogspot.ca/2012/05/research-note-on-origin-of-bengali.html
“On Surnames and Gotra Surmanes:
In Buddhist society, intellectuals of very high orders used to be honored by “Upadhyaya” tile, whereas intellectuals of lower order used to be honored by “Acharya” title. On the other hand Vedic system follows reverse of Buddhist System. In Vedic system intellectuals of very high orders used to be honored by “Acharya” title and of lower order by “Upadhyaya”. Thus we find, Dronacharya, Kripacharya, Sankaracharya, Madhavacharya, Ramanujacharya, Ballavacharya etc, but not a single Upadhyaya.
On the other hand, it is interesting to note that in Bangadesha Upadhyayas are highest rank holders among Brahmins, instead of Acharyas. This again shows that Bengali Upadhyayas were probably Buddhist.”

d. See also https://ramanan50.wordpress.com/2013/06/30/surnames-of-all-brahmins-bengal-odisha-haryana-assam-up-mp/ Nebulia: there are also many excellent wiki articles. I decided not to list them here lest the supporters went to edit them favourably.

Who knows if the Acharya shall have a title “Zenji Upadhyaya” in the future as it deems fit, that’s why this blog has to be here, to provide data reference, and aims to stay as tenacious, as resilient as he does.

Implication #1. If the Acharya finally clarifies that he is indeed an academic Acharya, the title was earned by having studied under another guru who conferred the title to him. Who actually is the direct guru who taught him? Please give the name of your guru and illustrate your academic lineage by physical media, not by verbal self-claims, 3rd party references, nor public teachings.

Implication #2. Even if he manages to prove it, he indeed manages to prove his lineage is a lower status……he contradicted his own claims about “highest” “oldest” lineage or status – to recap: in Buddhist society, intellectuals of very high orders used to be honored by “Upadhyaya” tile, whereas intellectuals of lower order used to be honored by “Acharya” title.

Ultimately, we do not ask the Acharya to “Prove It” or “Prove it with ID”. Perceiving from the quality of the lectures, there is no need for the Acharya to prove his claims, it makes no difference.

If the Acharya actually strives to prove it and he manages to prove it, the lecture samples and his Buddhist knowledge presented to us put his both ancestral lineages, and his claimed academic lineage, to same.

Implication #3. “Self Help” career is regulated as Psychotherapy field. The Archarya will have a supervisor and take exams. FYI:
http://www.crpo.ca/home/info-for-applicants/
http://www.ccpa-accp.ca/en/ontarioregulation/

Implication #4
Unfamiliarity with the dualistic origins of Buddhist-Brahmin, sociality and culturality of the Bengali Brahmins, and the academia order “Upadhyaya” and “Acharya”, suggests that he is triple neither.

Since he’s been sticking with the title Acharya with academic tone and proclaimed his academia as “highest” for several years, it suggests his unfamiliarity with original Indian Buddhist Guru-Dharma tradition. Therefore, he is not an academic Acharya.

The whole scene is an evil snow ball rolling bigger and bigger. Buddhism is his Wall Street. Now that he is the Abbott of a temple, and how about the past questionable dots that look Buddhism with the cover of Buddhism? They are means to get there.

Overall we can see an all too familiar pattern, he would never want to show his own teachings, but via side-means with celebrities, people of authority, give talks, give conversations, and then e.g. a 3rd party producer, 3rd party monks of an order, would give him heavy-weight compliments, and then he would record the compliments and achievements to affirm his substance.
Meeting with Monsignor Collins is definitely an honour, but what did they talk about? No no, he wanted to show us that they met and talked, he did not want to show nor share what they talked about that benefits humanity….
Hence, we have a self-proclaimed knowledgeable Buddhist teacher who never wanted to share his Buddhist teachings in his own website.

Showing his Buddhist/religious teachings, writing an essay, writing a Buddhist essay, are his Achilles heels.

Allow me: He is not a Buddhist-Brahmin, nor a surnamed-Acharya from West Bengal.
I have hard data and his Buddhist teaching content to demonstrate; he has claims, “I am, take my words for it”, and he does not have his Buddhist teachings and contents to demonstrate.

This blog is still old-fashioned. Being old-fashioned has its own character of insistence and persistence.

Implication #5. 2nd ‘No Problem’ update: the Acharya simply reverted the term ‘Buddhist-Brahmin’ and calls himself a ‘Brahmin-Buddhist’. No problem.
A childhood picture with caption ‘Shaving his head to become a Brahmin…’ So Brahmin is equivalent to a monk, is a monk, according to his new definition.

How creative! How innovative! How extenuative! His mind never ceases to amaze me.
If things were that easy, a lot of people’s lives would not have been so miserable. Talking about miserable and pathetic…..

We do recall cases that he involved himself into the term ‘Buddhist-Brahmin’. We better capture the contents here lest the related contents were gone from the original URLs due to technical updates.
http://www.chakranews.com/religious-harmony-conference-in-canada-represents-dharmic-religions/3307
“Buddhism will be represented by Zenji Acharya who is the only Western expert to hail from the oldest and most venerated Buddhist-Brahmin lineage of India.”
Btw and he’s been writing that book since forever.
http://www.weeklyvoice.com/community-news/toronto-based-nio-plans-bodhi-darma-the-movie/
Nio-Acharya insisted that he is a Buddhist-Brahmin at that time, not Brahmin-Buddhist. “Firstly, I am often told that I am one of the only if not the only Buddhist-Brahmin one will find in this day and age.” His story is very random, adaptative, attaching himself to lineages, just for suiting that time and that need.
Btw what happened to the girls who were supposed to be the actresses in the proposed movie? Nio-Acharya was just spending their time.

Why would someone go so far, as to fabricate new definitions for the term Brahmin, just so to save his ‘Brahmin’ title of glory, so that he can continue to address himself as such? See,
– the Buddha himself relinquished the title of a Prince
– what happened to the Noble Eightfold Path? That he himself lectured about it? Is that the Right Thing to do?
– What happened to ‘don’t take tenets and agendas for your personal use’…’, that he himself lectured about it? He invented new definitions for ‘Brahmin’, applies to himself, insists on passing himself off as one
– And for the term ‘Acharya’? He basically goes for ‘Don’t know and don’t care about “Upadhyaya”. It is my lineage, my tradition. (Take my words for it.)’ No certificates, no IDs.
– Once again, “I Am That” author Nisargadatta Maharaj, in his childhood he tended cattle, drove oxen, worked in the fields and ran errands, not as glorified to have been a child Brahmin – it is “That” that counts
– We have gently reminded him, recommended to him before, that hyphenated titles are illusions, and he is still clinging to it. Attachment, illusion, desire for power, recognition, fame, all these found attributes…and he imaged himself as a Buddhist teacher who teaches people right-and-wrong; a self-help expert who helps to transform people.
– He himself self-willingly reveals the darks of himself. Sigh, when you want to show your glory, you are showing your darkness – that is the dangerous meaning of the mirror pair “live” and “evil”.

Implication #6. Money was involved. The Acharya claimed he charged higher lecture fees, sometimes affordable fees. No matter about the amount of money, money was involved. The audiences were charged $10 for the data-error lecture. Civil case – the lecturer honestly believes his are the authentic Buddhist teachings (and there are even more implications); and the other case – .

PART II: The Story of a Buddhist Guru

Starting with citing his very impressive Testimonials:

[Should there be any propriety concerns regarding the quotations, please refer the concerned guests to this blog by leaving a comment and contact info, and I shall respond to them regarding their queries.]

http://zenji.org/1778.html

With due respect, all these quotations are sincere and genuine; however, they also prove my points. They mainly write about his oratory power and charm, none of these Testimonials suggests, “I have read some of his Buddhist and philosophical essays and I am educated by his original insight….”

“Not even the Masters Program at Delhi University conveys the level of knowledge that Zenji possesses…” – Ashok Bhatia, son of Vimal Chander who worked with B.R. Ambedkar on the Indian Constitution.

In short, equivalent or beyond Masters level. I shall use an imagined example of a military warfare fan. He can tell you regarding the D-Day on 1944 June 6, the manpower arrangements, strategies of the Allied forces and the German Nazi forces; he can tell you, in a powerful oratory manner, how the tanks kicked each other in the Battle of the Bulge, as if you were personally there….thus that earned him the sincere compliments from scholars, “his knowledge of WWII is equivalent to a History student with a Master’s degree.” It is a sincere compliment no doubt.

In the earlier posts, we were talking about the Acharya’s lacking of power of synthesis. If we were to ask the WWII fan for the sake of Sun-Tzu and West Point case studies, “How Hitler could have turned the tide of the war?” That, is a real test of his substantial integrative knowledge of the WWII board. Starting with Hitler’s Mein Kampf to study his mindset, Axis member Japan’s attack on the Pearl Harbour, Hitler’s relationship with the Soviet Union, the implications of the Yalta Conference, his decision to convert ME-262 as a bomber….on and on.

Back to Buddhism. Carrying such compliments comes with bigger responsibility. There is a question that had bugged Buddhist scholars for millennia, “The Existence or Non-Existence (Anatta) of the Self”, that should correspond to Master’s level and beyond. I was hoping he would give a treatise on this topic, and a synthesis with his Buddhist training tradition’s insight is certainly welcomed. (Notice the past tense ‘was’, would elaborate later.)

“Its great that Zenji is doing an amazing job running the World Buddhist Council and we are proud of him for doing a wonderful job promoting Buddhism for all humanity!” – Ajit Lear, Spokesman for Ambedkar Mission.

It is a polite comment regarding the World Buddhist Council. The World Buddhist Council is a virtual shell organization.
http://www.worldbuddhistcouncil.org/thesite/

Is it registered with which of the governments? A charity organization or no?
What are the stated Mission and Vision?
Where is the membership application form for downloading?
If there will be an application form, where should it be sent to for old-fashioned snail-mail members? No PO Box please – we are trying to affirm that WBC is not a shell organization, aren’t we?
Who are the committee members responsible for Recreation? Junior and Youth Buddhist Education? Adult Buddhist Education Co-ordinator? Treasury? Outreach, Communications and Public Relations? Secretaryship?
Any sample newsletters to members dated back?
Could he show us the accounting sheets (or to the professionals)?
Any evidence of past activities?
Typical e.g. Zenji and disciples and members of the Toronto chapter recently held an outdoor vegetarian BBQ in Park ….. They enjoyed their times very much and photos?
e.g. The junior members of WBC-Toronto Chapter recently participated in an internal ping-pong tournament. After the awards, President Zenji gave a treatise on the value of sports and recreation in Buddhism.
e.g. There was a Toronto Chapter 2014 Christmas Dinner and Multicultural Variety Show. Zenji…

The Supporters in Context

Last but not least: they are polite supporters, but none of these guests are true supporters. None of them says “I am aware of the critics’ blogs about him, among them contemplatingZenArcharya blog, and I still support Zenji.” ~ if there are, they are the true supporters.

Perhaps, starting with his earlier acquaintances, the one who drinks Coca Cola a lot, and the one who wears Polo Ralph Lauren shirts a lot. Ask them to make video statements, “I am aware of…..”
(To the general readers: why am I using subtle codes? I know he is reading this blog.)

To elaborate, the ex-Toronto-mayor Rob Ford took drugs, he lied about it, and he still has supporters. These are the true supporters for this discussion context. They were informed, and it is their freedom.

Exploring Faiths: Greater Buddhism (Mahayana) with Zenji Acharya

GREATER BUDDHISM (MAHAYANA)
Summary of the presentation by Suzanne Irwin
The Intercultural Dialogue Institute (IDI) welcomed Mahayana Buddhist Zenji Acharya to an intimate gathering at its GTA headquarters September 17, 2014. Zenji, dressed not in a monk’s orange garb but in black trousers, a dress shirt and a suit jacket accompanied by ancient malas, his black shoulder length hair pulled back into a wavy pony tail, applauded IDI for hosting yet another event offering the opportunity for people of different backgrounds and religious beliefs to learn about Buddhism through open dialogue and inquiry.
Zenji, his slight frame against a backdrop of rare Mahayana Buddhist artwork, his brown eyes alive with the passion of his forefathers, seeks to make Buddhism relatable to a modern world. His Buddhist Brahmin lineage harkens to Bodhidharma, the founder of Zen Buddhism, Nagarjuna, the founder of the “Middle Way” School of Mahayana, Vasubandhu and the founders of Chinese Buddhism, Paramartha and Kumarajiva among others. His vision includes bringing back the Buddhism of his ancestors by returning to scripture and the fundamental values embedded in the sutras. He aims to dispel popular myths and misinterpretations about Buddhism by returning to the truth found in scripture and archaeology and by providing citations from the Buddhist discourses (sutras) focussing on the Lotus and Amitabha Sutras of Mahayana Buddhism.
Mahayana, meaning “Great Vehicle,” is known as the bodhisattva path. This path entails cultivating “perfections” and eliminating negativity for many lifetimes to reach full Buddhahood. This must manifest in the individual as a heartfelt desire to reach Buddhahood to help to free others from suffering. This yearning, based on compassion for others, becomes the motivation of the entire bodhisattva path.
Buddhism emerged as a reaction to Hinduism and its caste system. Buddhism was founded by Gautama Buddha, born in India in the fifth or sixth century B.C.E., who developed a spiritual path called the Noble Eightfold Path. This path leads to Awakening and Nirvana, a state of freedom from suffering. This path was available to everyone regardless of caste or gender. The original school of Buddhism that developed from his teachings was called Hinayana or “Lesser Vehicle,” and led to Arhatship, but does not lead to full Buddhahood as in the later Mahayana schools of thought.
The Mahayana sutras were written predominantly in Sanskrit between the first and eighth centuries. Zenji focuses on the two most important sutras, the Lotus Sutra, one of the most revered in East Asia, written around 200 C.E., the oldest devotional scripture and the Amitabha Sutra. As Donald Mitchell says in his book, Buddhism, the Lotus Sutra teaches that “all living beings have the innately pure Buddha-nature, which is none other than the Dharmakaya, the body of the Buddha itself. So, awakening can be attained by laypersons and monastics, men and women alike.” Prince Shotoku quoted the Dhammapada that outlines the path to enlightenment: “Avoid evil, undertake good, and purify the mind. This is the teaching of the Buddha.” (Mitchell 276, 7)
Zenji states that Buddhism is misunderstood by some as a godless religion. The Amitabha sutras speak of Amitabha Buddha, the god of endless light and life who created a “Pure Land” in the heavenly Buddha realm where all those who wish to be saved can be reborn there and live in a land of bliss where there is no sorrow. This land of bliss parallels the Christian God’s Kingdom of Heaven and promise of eternal life. Belief in Amitabha enables people to have hope in salvation in perilous times, just as Christians believe in Jesus as Saviour. Amitabha is seen as Lord of Heaven, Protector and Teacher. He is not viewed as a god to be feared. Zenji states that Amitabha was the first being to give salvation. He says that “there is no need for Christians to be threatened by what is in Buddhist scriptures.”
In closing, Zenji seeks to bring people the awareness that they must avoid taking elements from Buddhism’s tenets that suit their agendas. He revives Buddhism’s core doctrines by awakening the voices of his Brahmin ancestors through the sutras to keep the tradition alive. He says that “there should be a degree of truth brought back whenever we are teaching” and that “Buddhism must be given its rightful place.” Zenji affirms that Buddhism is the world’s first devotional religion; as such he seeks to bring devotion back to Buddhism.
After the presentation, the attendees engaged with Zenji in an animated question and answer period and stayed long afterward. IDI succeeded in offering a venue, a welcoming environment and a tasty luncheon conducive to encouraging open dialogue among people of differing religious and secular backgrounds.

(Comments: that was back in September 2014 – he did not list the event beforehand.)

http://www.washingtonbanglaradio.com/content/24966915-dharma-shines-again-torontos-un-world-interfaith-harmony-event#ixzz3UjumAWzE

Acharya went on to punctuate his posh English accented speech with eloquent recitations in pure Sanskrit from the iconic Saddharma Lotus Sutra which deeply inspired and influenced both human rights icons Mahatma Gandhi as well as Rosa Parks – all delivered from Zenji’s own memory without any notes as per the tradition of the highest acharyas of the world’s foremost university of Nalanda. Zenji Acharya also explained the original vow of universal salvation to all castes, colors and creeds as promised by Amitabha – the Buddha’s most popular and eternal form – prompting high praise from those attending on behalf of Japan’s largest Buddhist congregation Jodo Shin Shu.

(Comments: That was back in February 2015. The Acharya did not list it in his website, nor in daruma.ca)

Notable Buddhist Teachings of Zenji Acharya quoted from above.

1. Buddhism is ‘Goddistic’. Amitabha Buddha is a god.
Comments and thoughts: there are gods in Buddhism yes. The sutras record that gods of different strata of heavens gathered to listen to the Buddha giving talks. ‘Goddistic’ has a different meaning.

2. Amitabha is the Buddha’s most popular and eternal form.
Comments and thoughts: i.e. Amitabha Buddha and the Buddha are the same entity.

3. Mine logical synthesis, based on the notable Buddhist Teachings of Zenji Acharya:
Amitabha Buddha is a god, and is the eternal form of the Buddha.
Comments: i.e. the Buddha is the eternal god.

4. “Amitabha was the first being to give salvation.”

Comments and thoughts – the above statement is a Pablo Picasso or Salvador Dali painting expressed in words. My response is just as abstract – ‘?’ It’s a semantic concern to sort out.

a. Does it mean: There are other beings within Buddhism who provide salvation, but Amitabha was the first?

b. Does it mean: There are other beings in the world religions who provide salvation, but Amitabha was the first? Does it suggest of the Arhcarya’s faith system is polytheistic and that the gods co-exist? In short, “You believe yours, I believe mine.”

c. Does it mean: The Buddhist concept of reception of the departed souls into the Sukhavati Pure Land/Heaven by (a redeemer) Amitabha Buddha’s grace, was the first among the soteriological belief systems of salvation and redemption?

Short pre-comment:

If the Acharya means ‘C’, that contradicts the testimonials who praise him of fluency and eloquence; therefore, the Acharya would mean more oriented to b. and a.
If the Acharya means ‘B’, there are fundamental conceptual concerns.
If the Acharya means ‘A’, there are the metaphysical and literary concerns – what actually is the point of such juxtaposition? The Acharya himself is in a better position to clarify, or his dharma becomes a hindrance.

Corresponding comments and thoughts, and my attempts to comprehend:

For A., to supplement, Avalokiteshvara/Kuan Yin, who is said to be able to help anybody, if one only hears his/her name and memorizes it. In his/her great compassion he assumes as many forms as necessary in order to save all beings (including people and demons in hell), if they simply accept the doctrine he preaches to them. Why the two genders? These are contingent manifestations of the celestial being Avalokiteshvara, who does not possess a form, who transcends beyond forms.

Avalokiteshvara had already attained Buddhahood countless kalpas ago, but still manifested as a Bodhisattva so that he can come closer to the sentient beings. There are many sentient beings who do not have enough merits to be in communion with a Buddha or the manifestation, but they have the merits to connect with a Bodhisattva or the manifestation. For that reason Avalokiteshvara remains the form a Bodhisattva, which is an emanation at will. Also search reference for the Great Compassion Mantra.

Ādi-Buddha, among some sects of Mahāyāna Buddhism, is the self-existing, primordial Buddha. The term refers to a self-emanating, self-originating Buddha, present before anything else existed. The concept of Adi-Buddha is the closest to monotheism any form of Buddhism comes.

If the Acharya means ‘A’, what is the dharma purpose of specifying who was the first? What purpose does it serve?

For B. and C., we collectively interpret the redemptive faith systems by chronological arrangement and not by contending the eternality of the gods on their behalf (applies to A. too) – it is both a disrespect and a disservice. We cite Hinduism, which factually existed before Buddhism.

In Hinduism the nature of salvation has to do with escaping from our natural existence in the world. In general, Hinduism teaches that human beings are trapped in a never-ending cycle of lives. As long as we live, we are going to produce karma, and as long as we produce karma, we are going to go on from life to life. It’s a vicious circle from which there does not seem to be any escape. Still, Hinduism teaches that it may be possible to attain liberation from this cycle of suffering. Atman‘s (the self) liberation from samsara is called moksha and represents its return to Brahman. This kind of liberation is actually an impersonal fusion of atman with Brahman, resembling the fusion of a drop of rain with the ocean, thus becoming one with it:

As rivers flow into the sea and in so doing lose name and form, so even the wise man, freed from name and form, attains the Supreme Being, the Self-luminous, the Infinite. He who knows Brahman becomes Brahman (Mundaka Upanishad 3,2,8-9).

The liberation of self (atman) through metaphysical knowledge (jnana, vidya) or asceticism (tapas) cannot be an open option for the average Hindu. For this reason most people adopt a certain devotional practice (bhakti) in order to transcend the world of suffering. The most important gods that are worshiped today are Vishnu and his avatars (especially Rama and Krishna), Shiva and the goddess Shakti (also in her forms as Kali or Durga). They have the following defining characteristics: 1) acceptance of a personal god as Ultimate Reality, 2) performance of a certain ritual to worship him, 3) invocation of his help to attain salvation and 4) understanding salvation as uniting with god or attaining a perfect and eternal relationship with him.

5. Zenji affirms that Buddhism is the world’s first devotional religion.

Comments and thoughts. Chonological perspective – Hinduism factually existed before Buddhism. Bhakti yoga – devotion – is part of Hinduism. Rg Veda, a very very old ‘Hinduism’ sutra/hymn c. 1500–1200 BCE, narrates devotional offering of soma juice to the gods.

Doctrinal perspective – “Buddhism is the world’s first devotional religion; as such he seeks to bring devotion back to Buddhism.” Refer to the above Chronological concern, do we say then “Since Buddhism is not the world’s first devotional religion, there is no need to appeal for bringing devotion back to Buddhism”? We know the Acharya would not have meant that, Acharya would still have meant ‘even though Buddhism is not the first devotional religion, when Buddhism was first established, there were devotional elements; but gradually they got caught/lost in time and faded away, the Acharya seeks to bring the devotional elements back.’

Hence forth, there are the derived questions. What are the lost Buddhist devotional elements to be brought back? (This is a physical data question.) e.g. there is a revival of ‘foot washing’ in Christianity.

What are the lost Buddhist devotional elements to be brought back, toned by his sense of reformational significance? (This is a contemplative faith question.)
Where there are Buddhist teachings reminding us of

a. of the monk Vakkali, who, full of devotion and love for the Buddha, was ever desirous to behold him bodily. To him the Buddha said: “What shall it profit you to see this impure body? He who sees the Dhamma, sees me.”
b. Shortly before the Buddha transcended, he said: “If a monk or a nun, a devout man or a devout woman, lives in accordance with the Dhamma, lives his life with the right attitude, walks in conformity with the Dhamma — it is he who rightly honours, reverences, venerates, holds sacred and reveres the Perfect One (tathagata) with the worthiest homage.”

Overall Conceptual Concerns and Contextual Implications –

Buddhism is a devotional religion. The Buddha did not disparage devotion, which grounds commitment and humbleness. He accordingly cautioned that pre-occupation with devotion works against the spirit of liberation and deliverance in Buddhism.

If Devotion is a quantity, this is a quantitative question:
Mahayana Buddhism developed out of the Theravada tradition roughly 500 years after the Buddha attained Enlightenment. The Acharya himself teaches that Theravada is more anchored to self-attainment, arhatship, an enlightened state. Thus Theravada is less devotional. As Mahayana developed, it became more devotional. So, how do you go back to the original, earlier core Buddhism to bring back the ‘lost’ devotional elements, given that the earlier Buddhism was less devotional?

The main theme of his talks is humane and noble, it is the fundamental content that I have comments and thoughts. Finally we get a glimpse of the Acharya’s Buddhist teachings and his Buddhist/religious knowledge.
In case there is a defence of such ’ ‘: these teachings are far too unique to have been summarized inappropriately with Suzanne Irwin’s own notions, if any. And if it were conveyed from the lecturer the summary does not communicate well enough, do please release the entire lecture to dispel the misappropriation. (Additional proof: the introduction of the lecturer’s background occupies 1/3 of the summary. Either Miss Irwin respects the lecturer very much, or the summary went through a personal review – either way it points to the argument that ‘the summary was not tempered with Miss Irwin’s own notions’.)
As I read on his website’s testimonials, originally I had hoped that he could give a treatise on the pivotal Buddhist concept of the Self or No-Self. Yes, the testimonials are sincere and polite. His claims of government documents, oldest Buddhist lineage, and childhood training serve as introductory introductions.

Zenji is the President of World Buddhist Council. Zenji claims that he lectured along with Harvard scholars and corrected PhDs.

Zenji seeks to bring people the awareness that they must avoid taking elements from Buddhism’s tenets that suit their agendas. ~ Well said. The Acharya tells us that he participates in social charity works to make the world a better place. Good works are good works, the Pan Am Temple is a temple, they are not to be discredited.

He made some updates in his website responding in this way, “Well, many people still say I am good, and I do a lot of good things….” Same old, same old; btw, his zenji.org still does not contain Buddhist teachings nor links to his own Buddhist teachings. He is proud of his accomplishments, awards, honours and titles, but he is not proud of his own Buddhist teachings, nor are we.

The other updates he added, quoting verbatim: “Avalokiteshwara/ Kannon – the Supreme Buddhist Super-God who takes the form of all Gods to rescue all beings….”
~ It’s a kind of Buddhist teaching in his theology. Later on he may delete it again.
Is he saying e.g. Yahweh of Judaism/Christianity in the Biblical Testaments is a manifested form of Avalokiteshwara?

“Supreme Buddhist Super-God”? Besides this flabberghasting articulation which leads to a suspicion about his inner psyche, such term renders the suggestion that his is a ‘Monotheistic Buddhism’, which is a new category. Together with ‘Amitabha was the first being to give salvation’, ‘Avalokiteshwara the Supreme Buddhist Super-God’….they start to make us wonder about his mental mystery and what he actually believes, meanwhile he advocates his to be authentic.

Although he doesn’t believe it, this young atheist scholar describes Mahayana Buddhism and Pureland Sect even better than the lecturer did: concise, approachable to the layman, beautiful painting description of the Pure Land Heaven….Sigh.
https://warforscience.wordpress.com/2010/01/14/why-i-am-not-a-buddhist/

His Testimonials have become not an asset but a library. He may as well continue to list more testimonials, but these become his library. Coming to this point, agreeably there is no need for the Acharya to prove his claims of oldest Buddhist lineage and childhood training.

Part I The Story of a Chef ….The Story of a great, puzzling Chef

Inspired by the quotation of “If you can’t take the heat, don’t enter the kitchen”, I am writing an analogy of “the story of a great, psychologically mysterious chef”.

Chef Arnie claims that he comes from a family line of celebrated culinary traditions. His ancestors had been royalty chefs, cooking for the noblemen and royalties. He himself had received rigorous culinary trainings since he was small and had special insights on cooking and possesses exclusive family recipes.

He showed photos when he was small, dressed in a neat chef uniform, in a kitchen cooking with the steaming pots and sizzling pans.

We are also impressed by Chef Arnie’s Testimonials from his own websites dotcom and dotorg, and we shall quote a few notable, impressive ones (almost all of them are impressive, or else they would not have been quoted as Testimonials):

“A great culinary experience!” ~ Minister of Culinary Affairs and Institutional Management, Department of Agriculture and Fishery, Province of

“I really enjoyed his cooking…bravo!” ~ Consulate of the

“I don’t know how he acquired knowledge and expertise in all these recipes, Chef Arnie is among the few great, knowledgeable chefs that I know.” ~ President, Home Economics Council of

Chef Arnie himself founded the World Culinary Council and is the acting President. He says he is writing a cook book based on his family recipes and tradition.

Readers from Canada and the rest of the world, visiting his dotcom and dotorg websites, impressed and thrilled by the exciting claims, testimonials, and pictures of this celebrity chef with other celebrities and people of authority, could not but being feeling compelled to almost “salivating”. Me too.

So some of us feel compelled to ask Chef Arnie, “Dear Chef Arnie, we know that you are an expert and an authority in cooking, so could you share with us on your websites a few unique cooking tips, insightful recipes, based on your family tradition? Like videos, short articles… A lot of us do not live in your Province, nor your city where you are located; a lot of us do not even live in Canada at all….”

The response is no response. Nothing, nada. That said, more and more testimonials of celebrity complimenting his cooking listed.

So for some of us with a more humble thinking, who thought that they could not ask for too much, they asked, “Dear Chef, perhaps there are reasons that you do not or are not able to share with us the elite, advanced cooking for the time being, how about the little things for us and we can’t be more grateful. Say, ‘How to fry nice eggs sunny-side-up?’, ‘How to cook with olive oil’….”

The response is no response. Nothing, nada. That said, more and more testimonials of celebrity complimenting his cooking listed.

Alas, there are also some of us, perhaps they have more means, perhaps they admire Chef Archie’s (sometimes Chef Arnie goes by another name, it is sameness according to the Chef) cooking so much, they save up money from their hard work; and the youngsters save up money from selling lemonades, dog-walking, delivering newspapers just so they can approach Chef Archie face-to-face and really experience his culinary performance in person. Chef Archie claims sometimes he charges a higher fee and they won’t mind, they just like to come near to Chef Archie out of admiration. So they ask, “Chef Archie, I manage to save up some money, and I don’t mind flying to your city Toronto, or other cities where you would be having cooking demonstrations…..can you inform us on your website your future activity schedule, when and where you will be holding cooking demonstrations?”

The response is no response. Nothing, nada. That said, more and more testimonials of celebrity complimenting his cooking listed.

Some of us, although he may see them as critics, would address and hint to him, “Dear Chef, from the perspectives of website design and the culinary profession, it is indeed very odd for a chef’s own website which appears to be not having cooking tips, recipes, and future culinary demonstration schedules. Like when and where you will appear in TV-Chanel 69 to demonstrate summer BBQ tips, when and where you will be in Milton Hotel Conference Room hosting a talk and cooking event…” We link a sample chef website where the other chef shares cooking tips and recipes and his calendar.

Now he had the time to respond and responded by a statement in his website.
The response is “These chefs’ recipes are not authentic, they incorporated their own personal agendas in it.”

And for his own authentic recipes and tips? Nothing, nada. That said, more and more testimonials of celebrity complimenting his cooking listed.

So we encounter a celebrity chef’s website with no recipes and cooking tips, no future cooking demonstration activity schedules; just the culinary titles and all the honours he holds, and the testimonials of compliments received after the more and more culinary demonstrations that happened – the events that he would not inform the public beforehand.

Thus there are all sorts of ‘speculations, mild and wild guesses, theories…’:
“Maybe he does not….”
“Perhaps he does not…..”
“He does not…..”, and you can’t really blame them.

Guess what? Again Chef Archie had the time to respond and responded by a statement in his website: “I am in talks with experts in legal enforcement and powerful attorneys, engaging those who engage in defamation of my name and honours.”

As for his own recipes and tips? Nothing, nada. That said, more and more testimonials of celebrity complimenting his cooking listed.

Coming to that point, how and what do you think of this bizzarro scenario?
He wants to show and he doesn’t want to show…
How and what do you think of this person, not as a chef, as a human being?

In addition, before he considers such high-pressure options of power to the common folks, all he needs to do is to show, demonstrate, exhibit, some of his cooking experiences, recipes to quell the query and doubts, to quench the hunger and thirst of people who admire his name and fame.

Freud or Jung would tell you, “This is a man of contradictions. He wants to show and he doesn’t want to show. In addition, he would boast about his humbleness, as he listed the award ceremony event as it happened…Boasting about one’s very humbleness defeats the humbleness, but he feels so natural about it.”

After all these typing, I do have a flash-blub moment:

This chef has messages with his massive testimonials, “Hey, I do possess solid culinary technique. How could I have fooled those people of authority and experts?”

I do not doubt the genuineness of the compliments, but I come to the conalysion (not a dictionary word) that the chef’s website is not for disseminating culinary knowledge, but for self-gratification out of self-glorification. He throws out his cooking skills to impress the elite and the celebrities, they get thrilled, he asks for and collects compliments and posts the testimonials, he shows them to the world. He feels good about it.
